I just realised THIS IS a game of chess.
Rumple is the King, Let’s say he plays the white side. Cora is the Queen, she plays the red side. Now she is coming too beat Rumple and she must get too his queen also too do that, his Queen is Regina of course.
This is a theme in Alice in wonderland.
Does anyone see the connections ? help me sort them out, ‘couse I haven’t got a well build theory jet. Some of the pieces just fell in to place, in my mind anyway π but I can’t find the rest.
[adrotate group="5"]November 22, 2012 at 8:53 pm #161723evilqueenParticipantbut who would be the king on Cora’s side?
November 22, 2012 at 8:57 pm #161724GrimmsisterParticipantNot sure. But maybe father Henry. Like I suggested in an other post I think he was a little chesspiece when they found him in that box in wonderland, wasn’t it labeled F5 ?
And now I’m not a chess master by eny means, but the game still goes on even though the king is gone on one side right ?
November 22, 2012 at 9:00 pm #161725GrimmsisterParticipantThat would also mean that Rumple used his ‘Queen’ (Regina) too win Coras King. When he tricked her in to using her fathers heart too enact the curse π It makes sence… doesn’t it ?
November 22, 2012 at 9:07 pm #161726evilqueenParticipantEr, not exactly, once the King is gone, that’s the end of the game. It’s the Queen that can be killed off and the game would still continue.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a bad theory but if we have way to many colours in the show to say that there are actually only two sides of the game. Also, I’d say there would be way more clues about it and I haven’t seen a single chess board yet!November 22, 2012 at 9:10 pm #161727GrimmsisterParticipantI copied this from Sparknotes homepage, it’s an analysis of ‘Through the looking glass’
“Chess as Metaphor for Fate
Aliceβs journey through Looking-Glass World is guided by a set of rigidly constructed rules that guide her along her path to a preordained conclusion. Within the framework of the chess game, Alice has little control over the trajectory of her life, and outside forces influence her choices and actions. Just as Alice exerts little control of her movement toward becoming a queen, she has no power over her inevitable maturation and acceptance of womanhood. At the beginning of the game, Alice acts as a pawn with limited perspective of the world around her. She has limited power to influence outcomes and does not fully understand the rules of the game, so an unseen hand guides her along her journey, constructing different situations and encounters that push her along toward her goal. Though she wants to become a queen, she must follow the predetermined rules of the chess game, and she frequently discovers that every step she takes toward her goal occurs because of outside forces acting upon her, such as the mysterious train ride and her rescue by the White Knight. By using the chess game as the guiding principle of the narrative, Carroll suggest that a larger force guides individuals through life and that all events are preordained. In this deterministic concept of life, free will is an illusion and individual choices are bound by rigidly determined rules and guided by an overarching, unseen force.”
Notice how there is also a White Knight in this fairytale. Emma is called the white knight right ?
This makes me more convinced that Fate, in the OUaT show, is the Big Bad Evil..

No no. I don’t mean it like then there is only two sides, but just, argh its hard too explain, give me a minute too figure it out..
Yes there have been chess boards. In the Cinderella ep. I remember seeing one in Rumples shop. And well Wonderland was one big chessboard.November 22, 2012 at 9:16 pm #161729evilqueenParticipantThere is a thread somewhere that Regina could be in fact Alice (and I would actually love that!) so hey, who knows. But in that case, she’s been manipulated by Rumple all her life so could it be that him, as A dark one would be that Fate? As in, NOT Rumple being Rumple but THE DARK ONE (as in, there have been many people before Rumplestiltskin taking ‘the position’ of the dark one) who is in fact the Fate himself?
November 22, 2012 at 9:27 pm #161730GrimmsisterParticipantUuh nice thought!
In Alice through the looking glass. The King who makes all the trouble, is asleep, and that King is in some analysis seen as God/Fate.
Then the Dark One, could be just that. And Rumple merely Gods tool to do his bidding (while he’s napping π )November 22, 2012 at 9:41 pm #161731GrimmsisterParticipantThank you EvilQueen, for the heads up on the Alice thread, found it and listened to the song- Its great !!!
Alice’s words-
If I had a world of my own Everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is Because everything would be what it isn’t.
And contrary wice, what it is it wouldn’t be And what it wouldn’t be it would, you see?=the curse, and Storybrook (If Regina =Alice)
