Thanks for all the work you’re doing Daniel! SO glad the forums are back up!

Testing various things out again. Links from the recent replies are going to the recent reply finally (yay!).

Search feature is still not coming up with any results and the “latest topics” are still very very scattered and not really the “latest” which seem to be the 5 on the recent reply box on the right which is again, spoilery by title.

We have @’s? Good to know…

Still unsure of how to tell the read topics from the unread ones and the color is still bright but I understand that a lot of these things take time!

The code buttons all have weird names but bold, italic, link, block quote etc seem to work. I’m not sure how to do spoiler tags yet, or use quote with a name and not the weird long number at the top.

Edited to add: when posting, it takes you straight to your post now (yay) instead of back to page 1! (It also immediately puts it into the “recent replies” box on the right). Still need to remember about unchecking that edit logger box though.

I know things take time, so I’ll just leave this here. I just tried to use both a block quote and spoiler tags and only the block quote worked. I ended up having to take out the block quote tag and just use spoiler. The problem may have been trying to use different codes. Can I mix or do I need to stick with one?

One more thing I thought of: do we still have our global posts somewhere? There were three sticky-ed posts, like the dictionary we created for the acronyms we use around here. (which was super helpful for newbies).

Edited to add again, again: The edit logger thing – any way to turn that to automatically unchecked unless we check it? I don’t really feel the need to have it checked but keep forgetting to uncheck it.

I was gonna ask about this too. It’s not unusual for me to go back and edit posts a couple of times right after I post and re-read it, so having that edit logger defaulted to unchecked would be handy if possible.

Daniel, that post I mentioned in the chat where I’d quoted and gotten a bunch of messed up code, having quoted a couple of other posts now, I think it’s just some sort of issue where the BBcode works but there’s html code mixed in there and they don’t want to cooperate? I quoted a long post in a thread just now and used the BBcode to chop it up and reply to a number of separate paragraphs, but in my post, it still kept the line break html code in the middle of part of the post I was quoting. Here’s the post I’m talking about:

    Peter Pans kidnapping theory

If you scroll down to the second chunk of quoted post, you’ll see the line break html in the middle of it.

ETA that can I just say how cool it is to see the forum jumping again. I lurked in a couple of other forums during the downtime and they moved so slowly with only a couple of posts per day. Made me appreciate what a great, active community we have here!

The new format of everything is really going to take some getting used to! But it is wonderful to be back.

When you click on the link button in the post editor, and finalize your link there, it will come out as html code and not the BBC code.

That’s okay. But when I switch to the visual editor, it will be more like creating a Word document and you won’t see the HTML or BBcodes.
