The confusion with Latest Topics / Recent Replies is going to take some adjusting. I loved going to “New Posts” to see what I was missing from recent stuff, and only seeing the most recent 5 posts in the box on the right is going to cause some problems I think.
One being that you miss a lot of stuff because you don’t know that other stuff is recent (still not sure how to tell which posts have been read and which haven’t in just looking at the boards – I’m guessing the color changes etc will help with that?
The other is the titles of the threads. Once we get into spoiler stuff in the coming weeks, people will have to ignore that box entirely to not accidentally read anything spoilery.
Looking forward to the codes working better and making more sense for those of us who don’t do much coding! Glad to hear that the old spoiler in brackets works (though I miss that button for sure!) as well as being able to preview posts. All of it will take some getting used to but hopefully we’ll all have adjusted by the time things really ramp up in the coming weeks and into the fall!
Thanks so much Daniel (and all the people who helped copy links as well). I’m sure this is a massive job but I’m happy about the chat and embedded tweets features, and I’m sure I’ll learn how to work the rest of it eventually. Love these forums and so glad they’re back!

Just copy the link you want to the post, no renaming/titling it, no clicking on the link button, just copy the link you want straight into the post. Otherwise it turns invisible and doesn’t register.
Also…now posting takes you back to page 1 again, or at least that has been my experience on posts with over 100 pages in the thread. The smaller threads usually take me to my new post but in the long threads redirects me to page 1.

Yeah, that’s something that was handy on the old forum, that the spoiler sections were just excluded from the Active Topics, so it didn’t matter how spoilery a thread title was, because it wouldn’t show up for all to see. Is there a way to tweak that in the new system, Daniel? Or should we just try to remember to be non-specific with our spoiler thread titles?

Other codes seem to be working, so I dunno why that one wouldn’t be?
Also, I was just posting in a thread and some of the quotes people had posted had the person’s name who had been quoted, so I figured that must have been fixed, but when I posted and quoted someone, it still just quoted the post number instead of putting the person’s name. For reference, it’s this thread: https://oncepodcast.com/forums/topic/episode-title-12/page/4/#post-199223

July 3, 2013 at 4:51 am #199242DemiletoParticipantGoogle Chrome is no longer showing the field where you type new messages for the chat box for me. I can still see it on Firefox and Internet Explorer, though.
July 3, 2013 at 9:31 am #199254PheeParticipantRight before I got an “Error establishing a database connection” just before, I attempted to submit a post about the chat…
I’ve got a teeny tiny box for typing in now, and hitting enter didn’t send the message, just put a new line in the message I was typing. So I clicked the “go” button instead and it opened a new browser tab with just the chat history on it, covering the whole page, and my new message down the bottom. Then that page gave a timeout error. Meanwhile, back on the forum page, my message was still sitting in the typing box as though it was unsent.
Also, chat no longer shows the most recent messages. When a page reloads, the chat is scrolled to a message sent ages ago, and I’ve gotta scroll down to get to the recent messages.
This happening to anyone else? (I’m using Firefox BTW.)
ETA that right after I sent that post…chat went back to working like normal. Typical! LOL
July 7, 2013 at 12:17 pm #199720kranenParticipantSeeing as this seems to be the thread for posting our problems, is there going to be an update done on posting images so that they automatically re-size themselves when posted and not squish up and look really weird?
For example, I posted this picture in another thread earlier. At first it looked like this:
So then I had to go in and change the dimensions and halved the size so that it would shrink and not look so weird and got it ending up looking like this (but it still looks a squashed up) :
I just think it would be a lot easier if it did it automatically. Especially for when we start getting Season 3 pics and we’ll be posting them all the time.
July 9, 2013 at 4:15 pm #199939PriceofMagicParticipantSome threads say I’m not logged in and therefore can’t post whilst other threads say I am logged in and do allow me to post.
All magic comes with a price!
