It will be interesting to see as a “human” how she plans to pull it off. She is a truly creepy character with very strange motivation so far 😀

Vanessa, Ursula's human alter-ego .
Uses lightning(tazer), Tamara was seen sitting by a fish bowl, and she specifically cast for African American. When watching a clip from The Little Mermaid after reading the above theory, the seagull shouted, “The sea witch!!!” It was then I remembered that Tamara is the name of a goddess of the sea. I believe its origins are Celtic but I believe I have read there are other mythologies that use the same name as well for their sea goddess.
Anyway. I tend to look into things and discuss them without necessarily believing in them, and that is what I am doing here. Don’t necessarily believe it, but the connections are interesting 🙂Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.

A lot of pieces don’t fit about her.
She mentioned to the Dragon about having analyzed the vial with the best technology. Well, ordinary folks don’t have access to that. How could she afford all the stuff? Either she is working for a private but well funded group of paranormal type investigators or the government. Is she just working Greg or working with him? If he were a fellow magic hunter, perhaps they have known each other for years through the quest to find magic.
I also wonder about the picture. Maybe her grandmother had cancer and died, but that much was true that she started looking for real magic. Then she met Greg.
I do wonder why August leaped to the conclusion about her “stealing magic”. I got that he connected her to killing the Dragon, but why not ask if she was there for or to use the magic? Or destroy it? Why steal?
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
March 25, 2013 at 4:00 am #182045CrownedWithLaurelsParticipantYes the whole scientist thing connected me straight to Greg’s name. There is just so much going on with her! 😕
😆 ➡ 💡 ➡ ❗ ➡ ❓ ➡ 😥 REPEAT!

March 25, 2013 at 4:42 am #182063astrawoidParticipantOoooo, I like the whole Vanessa, Ursula’s alter ego thing. That’s a great tie-in. I was thinking that she was some other world character that got banished here to our world for magic abuse and is looking to steal magic to either get back or wield it for herself.
But I also like the whole group of scientists looking to find real magic because they have had experiences with it (like Greg/Owen). That would explain the whole scientific approach to understanding the vial contents. I am also thinking that the taser is a magic absorbing like someone else had said earlier, which would explain why it killed the Dragon and August.

"Because... it was born out of true love."March 25, 2013 at 4:48 am #182066MatthewPaulModeratorI think Tamara is definitely associated with science in some sort of way. With the whole thing concerning Tamara’s grandmother, maybe she wants magic to bring her back to life? Science certainly can’t do so, as far as she’s aware, so she might be resorting to find a magical solution. Unfortunately for her, she doesn’t know that bringing someone back has consequences…
March 25, 2013 at 5:23 am #182075beastwhispererParticipantI’m starting to wonder if Tamara’s grandmother could have been Dorothy. We got reference to Oz earlier this season with Jefferson looking for the ruby slippers. Plus with Kurt and Owen having a town “dropped on them”. If she loved her grandma, Tamara could have first learned about magic from her grandmother’s stories. Maybe she has the ruby slippers or saw them work. That all still leaves Tamara as a human as she said. That also leaves the Wizard as a science tie in.

(I do a lot of references so pardon me) but in District 9 we see the military go through extreme lengths to reverse engineer the alien’s weaponry.
The only thing I can think of is that there is some sort of biotechnology company (or some sort of well funded individual or company) who either has more intel and methods than the government (ie area 51) that shows evidence otherworldly technology and they want to harness this for their own gain (either to control this world and maybe other worlds)…
Though at the same time I’d feel like the show would be stretched thin with all the directions or basically adding another element would make a full plate already that much fuller. If this is a possible direction I hope it is well balanced
What ties would the employer have to FTL? Could it be the sea witch (hence the references through Tamara’s name–maybe her grandma ;o ). Maybe the witch is trying to amass the magic to make herself stronger to take on the other worlds?
I would love introduction to our own “magical” creatures or from another world outside of FTL. I believe that this world used to have magic or have better communication/connection to other realms but our own corruption and lack of magic (whatever that means here) meant that we are a dying place and creatures are either fleeing or trying to hold on by any means possible
March 25, 2013 at 10:23 am #182096swanning-offParticipantWhat do we know?
– she’s sneaky
– she has lied and manipulated to gain access to magic
– she’s using Neal to get closer to Storybrooke/magic
– she killed August to silence him
– she’s hooked up with Greg/Owen
– she knows magic exists and wants access to it
– she has some taser device that can kill magical beingsWhat don’t we know:
– is she a real world or FTL character?
– what is her agenda? August *assumed* she was here to steal magic – what if she wants access to it for some other reason? (Have to admit, kind of struggling to work out any other reason than appropriating it to justify the lengths she’s going to!)
– did she free Hook and bring him back to Storybrooke or was he gone before she got to the storage locker?
– how does she know Greg/Owen?The boundaries as far as the show as set them – because even in a mind-bender like Lost, Adam & Eddy do play by their own rules:
– people who are aware of magic have had some brush with it in the past
– most people in the real world cannot see magic – they fail to perceive it even when right in front of them (doctor in Hong Kong, Emma pre-curse breaking)
– people who have magic have so far all come from other lands
– not everyone from another land was brought here by the curse (although, admittedly, Baelfire/Neal is currently the only example of this that we know of…. so far)Alright, so what can we do with those pieces of information? What conclusions can we draw?
– Tamara is most likely from another world or has experienced magic in this world
– She is certainly using Neal – is she using Greg/Owen?
– She is not to be trustedThe “missing” characters from stories already used in OUAT:
– Alice
– Maid Marian (if Robin Hood is coming up soon – but she wasn’t magical)
– Morgana/Guinevere if Lancelot is any suggestion that the whole Arthurian myth is up for grabs
– Ariel and any other character from The Little Mermaid, like Ursula
– Dorothy
– Wendy
– Tinkerbell
– other Disney creations, like Tiana (I haven’t seen Princess and the Frog so no clue what that one is about – is it an updated version of the Frog Prince? Kiss a Frog and he turns into a prince?) -
