Tonight we saw Jasmine defeat Jafar by turning him into a staff–a rather fitting end for the villain (especially if you watched Wonderland). What did you think of the villain overall? And did Jasmine’s takedown of the man live up to expectations?

Agrabah turns out to have been in Jasmine’s ring all along. Did you like the answer to this long drawn out question? Is there anything about Aladdin/Jasmine’s story you’d change?

I am constantly comparing this Jafar to the Wonderland Jafar which is probably not fair to this actor.  I always felt that Wonderland Jafar was a complicated villain who may of been able to be reformed someday.  I am okay how it ended I just wanted it over with.  The whole Jasmine, Aladdin, Jafar story line completely bored me.

Is there anything about Aladdin/Jasmine’s story you’d change?

    Their chemistry, they had none

Yes. The thing that bothers me a lot is that they really had something with Naveen Andrews. OUATinWL was flawed but by the end, the show was actually better than the parent show! And Naveen was so compelling to watch. They really could have waited for Naveen to be available from Sense8 .

I don’t have as many issues with the recasting. I think Oded does well with what he’s been given. If I had to name the biggest crime they’ve done with the character this Season, it was not using him enough. Why couldn’t he have been one of the main threats throughout the entire Season? Why limit him to just 3 random episodes? Did they have limited availability with Oded, or did they reduce their plans for Jafar because of the recasting backlash?

Or because they decided to incorporate the Black Fairy at the last second?

And did Jasmine’s takedown of the man live up to expectations?

No. I honestly didn’t get how it even happened. She throws the bottle down, nothing happens…then she has some in her hands? I just…? What. Very cool, terrifying thing, but pretty bleh.

Also, I have no idea what Jafar wanted and how this goes along with what WL. So he wanted to…destroy Agrabah because they hated him? Was that it?

But I’m so confused: WHY WAS JAFAR ABLE TO FREE HIMSELF FOR GENIE SERVITUDE??

Did they have limited availability with Oded,

FWIW, he’s also in 24 Legacy at the moment. He’s only been in the last couple of eps, and there’s only 3 eps left in the season, and who knows if he’s gonna be in all of them and if so how much screen time he’ll have. So I dunno exactly how much filming time he’d have had to commit for that, but as far as I know they wrapped filming around about Feb 20, so he was probably working on that through Jan and Feb. I haven’t been following the OUAT shooting schedule closely enough to know what eps they’d have been shooting during that time.

Ultimately, I feel Adam and Eddy bit off more than they can chew this season! Villains this season consisted of Jekyll & Hyde, Evil Queen, Mr. Gold, Jafar, Gideon, & The Black Fairy….it was just too much, and most storylines were dropped/ended before they really ever started.

I think a lot of changes happened in the Writing Room…too many changes.

I agree that this was a massive waste. He didn’t even feel all that threatening and he was so easily defeated. I had really hoped that he would have been working with the Black Fairy…

I don’t think they really planned anything in advance. It feels like they just drew stuff from a hat randomly.

Aladdin and Jasmine were just a way of trying to take advantage of Disney popularity (which didn’t really work out), they didn’t really serve any purpose at all.
