Episode 5 is not getting her fast enough darn it lol- hurry up time!
Can’t watch until tomorrow, but I did see a tweet earlier today from Bear McCready (the music composer for the show) who said that Epi 5 was his favorite of the season and that there is a really good folk music bit!

A few random notes.
1) that green coat Claire was wearing in the opening scene: ye gods. need. like….NEED
2) the scenery of this show is breathtaking
3) loved Claire’s “here we go…” before the fight
4) Jamie sleeping outside her door!
5) really nice seeing the smaller villages of the Highlands. such interesting people and culture
6) the ending = AHH!

I know right!
I’m loving the little tweaks to the story because in cases like the ending of this ep, you dont know which why they’ll swing.September 7, 2014 at 11:20 pm #281720surayyaParticipantpromo for those whom want to see it

"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 8, 2014 at 5:57 am #281733surayyaParticipantWill use spoiler tags in case anyone reading this thread hasnt watched Ep5 yet, but my favorite part of the ep was probably when Claire found out the guys were defending her honor- that whole part was so brilliantly played- from Claire’s “here we go…” as the men met out punishment highland style, for bad mouthing one of ‘their’ ladies, to Claire’s reaction when finding out they were brawling to defend her
& that ending….. I seriously went “What?! No! Darn it” … I thought for a sec the end had been cut off or something LOL
September 9, 2014 at 11:23 pm #281880RumplesGirlKeymasterA really great Interview from Ronald D. Moore about the show!
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"September 10, 2014 at 12:17 am #281883Bo-PeepsParticipantGreat find for that interview, thanks! I especially like the little additions and tweaks from the written words. Best of all worlds-I know where it is going and how it will end, but the paths just to the side of the main road are irresistable to enjoy.
And surayya, the “here they go” scene was amusing, but still aggravating. I recall while reading the book how much I was thrilled by the heart palpitating gallantry of the romance but also infuriated by the ignorant proprietary …baloney…that women lived with regarding the men. It was Claire’s immense personal strength that kept me, at times, from throwing the book against the wall as if it were any number of the male characters’ heads…fancy “foine” kilt fillings be-damned!
Fantasy fiction or not, the realities of a woman’s place in that world were bleak at best.
The real fun is just beginning.

Oh yes, totally & I think in many ways the show is doing a really good job showing just that- I mean, not every day you see women depicted happily working with their & others urine & accepting as normal they’ll be pushed & man handled roughly when & if it pleases the men of their society to do so.
Things like that really stand out as jarring in comparison to the things I see Once accused of portraying/promoting- I’ve never seen anything go down on Once like what went down in the ladies ‘hut, thing’ with Angus, I actually found that scene the hardest to watch, as it was so belittling of Claire & women in general.
Still, the show is doing a seriously good job of portraying what it was likely like back then- good for women or not.
September 14, 2014 at 5:39 am #282348Bo-PeepsParticipantI am impressed with the actor’s magnificent portrayal of Black Jack Randall. He truly is superb. The extended confrontation between he and Claire was so much more intense than the few written paragraphs in the book…
And I absolutely, more intensely hate his bloody guts. To the point where my skin crawls the moment he comes on screen.
THIS is a villain.
