a majority of fans had hoped for a Mulan-Aurora romance. And when we chatted with Chung at the 2014 Winter TCA Press Tour, she told us how “glad” she was when the ABC fantasy hit’s creative team decided to go there with Mulan’s storyline.

“When I was filming that, it was like an ongoing inside joke between Sarah and I. Like, ‘I secretly really care about you,’ Chung recalled. “And the audience as well, there was this conspiracy online, like, ‘Mulan loves Aurora!’ And I’m really glad that the writers listened because I really do think that’s what they planned from the beginning. They’re all about twists and like, why not? It felt so natural to begin with.”

But Chung is totally down to pay Storybrooke another visit, saying, “Are you kidding me? I think it would be really disappointing to leave the audience with this giant question mark. I would go back in a heartbeat.”

Well that seems to totally contradict the other thing she said

All magic comes with a price!

    That’s interesting, given this tweet:

I don’t see why it’s a contradiction. I read “I don’t know if I’ll ever go back” as more of her not being sure if the show will bring her back, rather than her not being up for it.

Adam and Eddie said previously that they have an open door policy.  Actors can come back when they’re available, so maybe (hopefully), we will see Mulan again one day.

I think it depends on her success over at NBC with Believe. If it falls through, I’m sure she’d love to come back and that A and E would love to have her back in any way they can. But given the amount of press and hope NBC is placing on this new show, it might be awhile.

I think it would be weird if we see Robin Hood and his Merry Men and Mulan’s not there.  How do you explain that absence? Or maybe they’ll do what they did in the season two finale and cover the actresses’ face. Or maybe it won’t matter.  I mean, they re-cast Robin Hood from his first appearance because the actor wasn’t available.

In my head, they explain Mulan’s absence with : “she went home to protect her village”

It’s clear cut, it fits with tradition of Mulan wanting to protect her home (except this time she goes back to her village instead of leaving it); and it’s something I can buy.
