Jamie Dornan in new film – Anthropoid

I’ve been away from the forums so I may have missed this, but I don’t see any mention of it here so I’ll go ahead and post this.

 

Jamie Dornan (Sheriff Graham/The Huntsman) stars in the new movie, Anthropoid, which comes out this week. The film is based on a true story. Dornan plays the hero Jan Kubis, who was part of the 1942 mission (codenamed Anthropoid) to assassinate SS Obergrupenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich. I don’t know much about the film except that  Dornan has the leading role in it and it is said to be more historically accurate than previous versions.

 

Previous film versions of the story include the excellent 1943 film Hangmen Also Die directed by the great Fritz Lang and co-written by Lang and Bertolt Brecht (both Lang and Brecht had themselves escaped from Germany, of course, but this version, while it was a good film, was not very accurate since it was made just shortly after the events occurred and the war was still going on. ) There was also a 1975 version of the story called Operation Daybreak, which I don’t know much about.
