Question: How do you think Emma will react when she finds out that Mr. Gold has a son.
Jane’s response: I don’t think she will be gut-shot by him having a son. Other revelations, however, will floor her!
I remember a couple of us discussing over the summer the possibility that Rumple’s favor from Emma may be her tracking down Baelfire. Since we now know he cannot leave town – a lot of these answers have me thinking about that again..
Yeah, that has me thinking. As of now, the only other revelation would be Belle, but none of the other characters were particularly “floored” by that so far. Of course, it could be anything. The writers can always introduce something new.
Did we get confirmation that we’d find out what happened to Baelfire this season?

I don’t know whether the majority of the other characters are actually aware of Belle’s association with Rumple or whether they just know Belle as Ruby’s friend. So far, the only characters that definitely know are Charming, Ruby, Moe and Smee (Moe wasn’t happy about it and Smee is most likely going to tell Hook).

I find her response to your last question interesting. Emma will be floored by other revelations. Reminds me of the statement from Josh Dallas about Emma in relation to Henry’s father “there is a certain percentage of this man that Emma knows, and a certain part that she doesn’t. She had some sort of relationship with him, but there is an element of surprise for Emma as to the fullness of who this man is.”
Kind of seals the deal about Neal being Bae.

For something to “floor” her, you’d think it’d have to have some personal impact on her. A revelation to do with Rumple that would effect Emma on such a level…Neal being Bae would certainly fit. If his favour is asking her to go find his son, and when she finds him, he turns out to be her long lost love, that revelation would mess with her head good and proper.
I’m pretty sure they said they’d address what happened to Bae this season, but buggered if I can remember where or when I saw them say it.
November 17, 2012 at 7:24 pm #161198lilredParticipantAt comic con and in a couple other interviews the creators stated we will find out what happened to Baelfire in season 2. Of course ‘what happened’ can go in thousands of different directions but you’re right Phee: really wouldn’t ‘floor’ her if Gold had a son who died generations ago, or is still a 14 year old, or a completely random guy that comes to town – that pretty much finalized for me that Emma is going to have to have a connection with this storyline and Bae.
Edit: Robert Carlyle said in a TV Guide interview “He’s [Baelfire] out there somewhere,” says Carlyle. “I know what’s going to happen, and it’s pretty mega.” That makes me think he’s probably alive at the very least…
