Jefferson and the timeline

After watching episode 2×05 It seemed to me that Jefferson is more mad than sane which leads to me think
when exactly did all these events from this episode take place? Is it possible that the Mad Hatter escaped
Wonderland at some point?

No, this is Regina and his first meeting, the events take place yeeears prior to Hat trick. In “Hat Trick” in season one they are meeting for another time (second, or possibly more, we don’t really know) and he has given up portal-jumping for the sake of his daughter, and in that episode is when she tricks him and he gets stuck in wonderland and becomes The Mad Hatter.
