I think it is instructions to reveal the town so the team can return to SB, that Ariel has.
That’s a good guess too! I like it.

So, either Ariel will get something from Mr. Gold’s shop which can help get them home (e.g. a set of instructions, a map, pixie dust, a portal), or it is something which could be used to defeat Pan himself (e.g. something akin to squid ink only not that, since it’s readily available in SB).

Here she is on Are You Afraid of the Dark?:

Call me stubborn but I’m still on board until we actually see what happens, (though everyone knows I’ve also had one foot on the good ship TinkerHook since “Lady Bell”). JoAnna’s comments have been mostly along the lines of, “She’s so in love with him,” but she hasn’t flat out said, “They have an epic, happily ever after romance.” Check out this pic from the dock scene, it’s obviously during filming because the boom mic is up, and Eric and Ariel are standing 50 feet apart, (OK maybe not quite 50, just sayin’ they don’t look like a recently reunited pair of long separated lovers who can’t get enough of each other now that they’re together, they’re not even holding hands).
If Eric and Ariel do end up together, I won’t begrudge them their happy ending, I’ve just been crackshippin’ too long to give up on it unless and until they actually show them conclusively as a couple. If in 306 we hear Eric say, “You are the most beautiful creature I’ve ever seen,” right before he kisses her, then I shall concede defeat, not before. 😛Is she going to be bringing things from Gold’s shop? Does he have pixie dust stored somewhere?
The article says that her friendship with Snow is what will lead to her helping with Henry. Rumple isn’t currently with Snow, so if it’s Snow who sends Ariel for help, I dunno that it could be to retrieve something specific from Gold’s shop, because how would Snow know exactly what Gold has in his shop? Unless they send her to find Belle, who they’re hoping would know what stuff Gold has in the shop and if there’s anything useful? That’s a pretty vague plan though. We dunno at what point Regina splits from the group, if it’s before or after they see Ariel, so maybe Ariel is sent to get something of Regina’s? Unless she does what she did with Tink, and says, “Imma split before you talk to her, because if she knows I’m involved, she may not help.” I dunno what Snow herself could send Ariel to do/get specifically, because it’s not like she has a stash of helpful, magical whatnots back home.
I think it is instructions to reveal the town so the team can return to SB, that Ariel has.
I think Rumple can take down the spell to get back, because it’s his spell. When he left, he figured he was gonna die, so he wouldn’t be around to take the spell down, but we know he will be going back with them now. How Ariel finds the town when it’s supposed to be cloaked, I dunno. Maybe the cloaking is only effective above the waterline, so she’s still able to swim in.

Then it snuck up on me, so it just sneaks away too, like a tide rushing back to the ocean of imagination.
I’m ok with it, because I know it’ll be enjoyable to see Ariel and Eric with how they’ve cast such wonderful actors to bring it to life, and there’s bound to be some fun twists OUAT style to all of it with Regina putting a tentacle in there and Snow popping up.
At the same time though I am beginning to get a bit of the Season 3 of Heroes feeling. It’s like they push these characters to explore new facets of their personalities, but they push a little too far and suddenly what you liked about them in the first place begins to fade away. It hasn’t gotten as bad as Heroes yet, and I realize the whole point is PP is messing with all their heads, but I’m sort of getting nervous.
Ariel will give a bit of a break, but at the same time, does her story fit in or does it feel dropped in the middle? What’s up with the mean mermaids, versus Ariel, and why couldn’t they have asked for her help before? I hope there aren’t just unexplained gaps where all we can say is “well then, this happened.” Why didn’t Snow say something in the Filet the B__ scene like “No wait, I know mermaids, and they’re not like that!” I hope that scene will still make sense after we’ve seen Regina and Snow’s previous mermaid experience.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

This is a really good point. I don’t want them to give us Ariel just for the sake of giving us Ariel. I do hope we learn about Ariel’s time in NL because I think it would be be very interesting.
