ABC’s Once Upon a Time has “big” plans for Jorge Garcia. Lost‘s Hurley will guest-star during Season 2 of the fantastical drama series as a giant, TVLine has learned. Garcia right now is booked for just one episode. Garcia’s casting comes as no great surprise, given Once co-creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz’s own Lost roots. Plus, as recently as July they shared their wish to find a place for the big lug on their canvas. Think maybe this giant lords over a certain magical beanstalk?

Well,
considering we might see Jack and the Beanstalk next season based on the title cards, I think it's safe to say he'll appear in that episode.

Details on his role are scarce, but we do know Garcia will be playing “The Giant.” Considering the ABC fairy tale drama is taking on Jack and the Beanstalk this season, we’re guessing Garcia is the famed giant that Jack comes across after climbing up the titular beanstalk.

But if it is in fact a one shot role, I’d think it will still be a significant one, because I wouldn’t think they’d bring back one of their beloved former Losties just to play some character from a random story that won’t leave much of an impact on the overall scheme of things. So this makes me think even more that the Jack character will be Bae. His encounter with the Giant will significantly darken his character, so even if Jorge’s role is brief, it’d still be vitally important to the development of Bae, one of the central characters for the show.
BTW, even if Jack doesn’t end up being Bae, the Lost fan in me is getting a kick out of the fact that Hurley will be dealing with a Jack again. 😉

I could be wrong but Jorge Garcia doesn’t strike me as someone who’d be a believable evil character maybe because I’ll always see him as Hurley from Lost. Anyway the series is going to need more morally ambiguous characters especially as Rumple seems to be working with the side of good and Regina doesn’t appear to be in Storybrooke (due to the lack of pics)

If Jack turns out to be Baelfire, I could see this happening. After all, Baelfire could have become a thief and liar to survive, just as Jack did in the original fairy-tale version. A lot of people are rooting for Baelfire to be Henry’s dad and Emma’s true love as well, but what if Bae has turned out to be unlikeable? As much as I like Rumpel and Bae, I could see Bae turning out to be a real loser, due to his father’s actions, who doesn’t feel like he could deserve Henry or Emma. That would make for interesting television and a lot of drama. He’d also have to be redeemable in some way.

I don’t know whether Jack is going to be Bae. In the Return, when Blue Fairy gave Bae the magic bean, she told him “the others got away from us”. What if the other beans were stolen by Jack? What if Jack is Henry’s Dad?
As for Bae, I don’t think he’s going to have a happy reunion with Rumple. They’ve sort of done that idea between Rumple and August in the Return. Also what if Rumple doesn’t recognise Bae? Bae could be an old man for all we know. When Archie asked Rumple how old Bae was,Rumple said “let’s start with something easier” which suggests that Bae could be any age.

I hope he’s been through some trials since leaving FTL, and has had to resort to doing things he’s not necessarily proud of. Seeing him have to wrestle with his own demons as he comes to terms with his father’s would be far more interesting than just having him still be a good guy, still trying to talk his dad into doing the right thing. I wouldn’t find it believable that father and son could truly reconcile if their views are still polar opposites. Bae needs to have lived the dark side a bit, and Rumple needs to see the light a bit, (helped by Belle), so they can come to an understanding and reconciliation.

Here’s her tweet,
Heading to Vancouver tomorrow morn! Fingers crossed that the Pack vs Bears game will air up there so I can watch it on Thursday night!
So he’s appearing in episode six then, and it’s a big episode for Emma, and Michael Raymond-James headed back up to Vancouver on Sunday. Mmm, very interesting developments all around.
September 12, 2012 at 5:52 am #153852PheeParticipantGiven that they’re about to shoot a big Emma ep, would it be safe to assume that the whole thing will be set in our world? They can hardly do FTL flashbacks for her. Though we don’t know where Emma is at this point in the season, I suppose, and with the speculation about her and Snow having gone somewhere, I guess they could potentially still be wherever, and maybe this will be the ep where they come back to SB. Trying to think how the Giant would fit in with either of those scenarios if Jorge will in fact be in this ep. Could he be in real world flashbacks from Emma’s past? Or could he be wherever Emma and Snow are currently, if they’re not back in our world yet? Or maybe he won’t have any interaction with Emma at all, and instead will have scenes with Jack.
And with MRJ also in this one, does that confirm that he’s our Jack? I’d had Jack pegged as Bae and MRJ pegged as Henry’s father, not necessarily being sold on the theory of Bae being Henry’s dad, but now I’m starting to wonder.
It’s ridiculous how a tweet from a cast member’s girlfriend can send my mind racing. 😆 I need the new eps to start airing so I can focus on some actual facts instead of crazy speculation for a change. 😛
