Alexandra Mentz looks great as Rapunzel and I like that they’re branching out from the stereotypical blonde hair routine.
“We went a little darker and freakier,” says executive producer Edward Kitsis. “A little more horror story in the vein of [the 2004 movie] The Grudge.”
Say what? Freaky? Horror? I don’t mind so long as it doesn’t cross into the realm of Cora’s zombie army (never did like that).
The long-locked damsel (Alexandra Metz) will be visited in her tower by Prince Charming (Josh Dallas) as well as a mysterious hooded menace. Might it be the Wicked Witch of the West (Rebecca Mader) lurking under that hood? “I can’t tell you,” says Mader. Yeah, yeah, we know. If you did, you’d have to kill us.
I’ll take that as a yes on the hooded figure being the WWW, but what could she possibly want with Rapunzel? A&E said they weren’t doing tangled, so I don’t think Rapunzel’s hair has magical property after all.

When they say they aren’t doing “Tangled” does that mean every element from the movie is out? Because Rapunzel’s hair having magic is the only reason I can think of why she’s entering into the WWW/OZ storyline. In on of the shots of the WWW standing in Regina’s clothing, she is holding a strand of hair. What if it came from Rapunzel?

Maybe yes, or maybe the WWW is actually using the damsel-in-distress routine to lure Charming to the tower because she secretly wants a strand of Charming’s hair. Maybe she wants to bottle true love all over again to bring magic to Storybrooke 2.0 (unoriginal I know).

Based on the picture that went along with the article, I’d say the Rapunzel story takes places during the missing year, so Rumple isn’t there with the gang.

I thought they said her title IS the Wicked Witch of the West–but her name isn’t specifically “Elphababa” or whatever it was from Wicked the book/musical. Anyone know? They are putting their own spin so that’s all I know.
What if Rapunzel IS the Witch in disguise? What if it is a trap to lure Charming to get his hair with the story of a trapped maiden, but really she’s pulling a “Cora” and she was imprisoned in the tower long ago because she’s dangerous and evil. So Charming inadvertently lets her out, while trying to do a good deed (and a nod to the musical song, no good deed goes unpunished!).
If not, I bet Rapuznel is a monster of some kind, and she’s up in that tower for very good reason and letting her out is going to cause problem–I hope that’s not the case as I’d like to see her join Team Princess but it just seems like something they’d do.

the Grudge…!!! that sounds wieeerd =/ but all I remember from that movie is a shower scene when an ugly looking ghost thing comes out of “Buffy’s” hair… perhabs that would be fitting here ’cause of the hair thing and you cant really blame any ghost for getting lost in there… but it would still be wierd.
But some horror on OUAT sounds good. I love a good horror scare.

Uh ! good thought..I’d acctually love Rapunzel being a monster much better then her being a Princess.
