I thought they said her title IS the Wicked Witch of the West–but her name isn’t specifically “Elphababa” or whatever it was from Wicked the book/musical. Anyone know? They are putting their own spin so that’s all I know.
They are calling her the Wicked Witch (no West) but she has her own unique name that they have not yet told us.
What if Rapunzel IS the Witch in disguise? What if it is a trap to lure Charming to get his hair with the story of a trapped maiden, but really she’s pulling a “Cora” and she was imprisoned in the tower long ago because she’s dangerous and evil. So Charming inadvertently lets her out, while trying to do a good deed (and a nod to the musical song, no good deed goes unpunished!).
Ooooooh. Freaky.

It’s a flashback but I’m like 99.9% sure it’s a flashback to the lost year. It can’t be James–the costume is off.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"Hm. Just read through the storyline for “The Grudge” and I’m having a hard time fitting the two together. I do like the notion that Rapunzel might be the bad guy, but after pulling that with one of Disney’s best beloved characters (Pan), I have a hard time believing they’d do it with Rapunzel, even a non-“Tangled” Rapunzel. But you never know!
There is this line in the Wikipedia description of “The Grudge” — “The Grudge describes a curse that is born when someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage or extreme sorrow. The curse is an entity created where the person died.” Could Rapunzel have something to do with The Dark One?
It’s also presented in a very non-linear way, jumping back and forth in time. Interesting.

Check out the larger image of it that @OnceABC is using as their background image at the moment. It looks like she’s holding a needle, which I assume will have something to do with the dripping blood in the promo.

There’d still have to be an actual Rapunzel though, if that guy we think was playing her father was actually her father. We never got any hints of a mother being cast though, which leads me into this next quote…

Maybe her mother died? BTW, the next part of the wikipedia description: “Those who encounter this evil supernatural force die and the curse is reborn repeatedly, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. The following events are explained in their actual order; the original film is presented in a non-linear narrative.” It does sound rather Dark One-ish. Though for Rapunzel to be tied to the Dark One Curse, wouldn’t she, and her father, have to have lived a looooooonnng time ago, so why are they seemingly alive in present day?
It’s hard to figure out what Rapunzel has to do with the Dark One curse in some way, unless it was perhaps HER father that started it, and she’s survived for years locked in a tower for some reason to live to tell the tale. Perhaps her hair isn’t supernaturally /magically long, but just an indication of how flipping long she’s been in there.
Then again, bars on the window? Someone’s keeping her in there. So curious as we know very little about how her story fits into anything so far!

Saw a tumblr post where someone thought that Charming’s sleeve in the Rapunzel pic looked like his sleeve in the S3B BTS pics. I looked up a clearer pic and Photoshopped this side by side…
Don’t look quite matchy to me, (the Rapunzel one seems to have gold studs too, and the lines look wider spaced), so I don’t think we can say for sure that the Rapunzel stuff is in the missing year, (can’t rule it out either). It looks like the 3×12 outfit but after having been worn for a long time.
But the one thing I don’t think it looks like is any of Charming’s outfits pre-Regina’s Original Curse
