TV Guide: Mermaids and Romance Ahead on Once Upon a Time

Before Ariel’s highly anticipated arrival next season on Once Upon a Time, other mermaids will make a splash on the ABC hit’s Season 3 premiere. But unlike Ariel, these are nasty little fishies. According to Lana Parrilla, her Evil Queen and the rest of the Storybrooke gang traveling to Neverland will encounter a pod of finned creatures who are “beautiful, full-bodied and not the nicest mermaids. They’re more like sirens.”

Trying to be on her very best behavior, Regina/Evil Queen will find a surprising love connection in the third episode — perhaps with Robin Hood (Sean Maguire), who will appear on both Once and its Wonderland  spinoff. “Regina’s love has to be very manly, and Robin Hood is that,” Parrilla says. “I’m getting very excited.” (Alas, she shouldn’t get too excited, since producers tell me this romance will take a tragic turn.)

Also expect to learn the origins of Tinker Bell, the Blue Fairy and fairy Nova. And while Rumplestiltskin (Robert Carlyle) and Belle (Emilie de Ravin) are separated in different lands, “Rumbelle” shippers will be treated to what de Ravin calls “a dreamlike reunion/interaction between Mr. Gold and Belle,” with the possibility of Belle soon joining her lost love in Neverland. But will they live happily ever after?

    1) Most mermaids are scary.

    2) RegalHood is almost canon.

    2) Sneak Fairy is sneaky (probably).

I think you are right RG, when I said that Snow hits David with the ship mast you stated that he falls over and meets the mermaids.

Agreed! I think the mermaids are going to be as devious as PP and the Lost Ones. Except Ariel, she will be repulsed by her family.

The last part is unfortunate.  Tragic can mean anything, but mostly what comes to my mind is that whoever the guy is, ends up dying.  Death would be tragic, b/c then it would mean Regina’s back to square one trying to find a new love.

I think tragic could also mean that Regina is responsible for Marian’s death somehow. *cue Tamra is daughter or RH and Mairan theory*

    That’s possible too.

Now that I think about it, we know for sure that Robin Hood is returning (although it’s a different actor), but we haven’t heard anything about Marian.  Maybe she did die before Regina enacted the curse.  but if Regina is somehow responsible for her death, then I don’t see how Regal Hood can move forward.

MERMAAAAIIIIIIDS! In 301! I’m so stinking excited to see what Onceiverse mermaids are gonna look like! And they’re gonna be nasty! Wonder if they’re gonna be Ariel’s sisters? I saw a cool piece of fanart on tumblr that had Ariel and her sisters all looking sinister, lemme see if I can find it again *searching* … got it…

Little bit gobsmacked to all but have confirmation about RegalHood already.

The origin of Fairies? That should be interesting!

So happy. A dreamlike reunion/interaction between Rumple and Belle with the possibility of Belle joining Rumple in Neverland.

When are Regina’s romances not tragic?

Awhile back, before the casting of Peter Pan, I thought, what if Regina has a romance with him? It would be tragic and twisted for Regina to suddenly develop feelings for the guy who kidnapped her son.
