Whatever the deal is with the doll, I want that backstory on how Neal got out, what happened the last time Rumple went to NL, and why Rumple didn’t seem to know Neal had been in NL for centuries. Or if he did, why he couldn’t do anything about it.

The doll had a blue jacket on. Have we ever seen Rumpel in a blue jacket? We have seen Bae in [Edit: a dark jacket. and the doll’s jacket ] had white trim, was boxy and looked cut to remain open.

Like this historical Privateer Navy garb:

I think the mystery of the doll may be cleared up in 301. The intro to the clip was Adam saying, “It involves the culmination of many things that have happened in an episode you have not seen yet.”

The doll had a blue jacket on. Have we ever seen Rumpel in a blue jacket? We have seen Bae in one. It had white trim, was boxy and looked cut to remain open.

Do you recall which ep? Off the top of my head, I thought the only jackets we’ve seen him in have been maroon-ish?

Sorry, the description I’m giving is for the doll, deleted a sentence there, in reference to someone saying the doll looked like Rumpel. I am not sure it looks like Bae, but I thought Bae’s jacket on Hook’s ship was blue.

It would not make sense though for either of them in a small village if it is a nautical inspired doll. Then again, it is a toy and you do not have to make it a mini-me but a fantasy.

These are the shots of Bae I could find in which he wear either a coat or a cloak.

    And here’s Neal

Nealfire often wears a blue scarf, I’ll admit. But I don’t recall a blue jacket.

From 222. More black and blue? Maybe?

Here’s a screencap that shows Bae’s full coat on the boat. It’s a dirty dark red, brownish sorta colour.

His dressing gown was dark red too.

Crackpot theory: Could the doll be linked to Liam, a captain in the Navy?

For this sake of this idea, let’s agree that Rumple is now fighting for more honorable causes. I think the doll could be a reminder of a dark past that he truly regrets. Adam and Eddie have said this season is about the characters returning to who they always were. Rumple was once a good man. We’re seeing him strive for that again.

The doll first struck me as a toy from the Darling’s house. I’m not sure why. Seemed very Napoleon or something for some reason. What if Rumple brought a lot of kids to Neverland to trade for Bae, but PP refused the deal.

Last year, we all thought the Wendy Darling could have some connection to the Home Office. I really feel like the Darling children have to come to Neverland eventually. I’m wondering if Rumple brought them there to trade for Baelfire.

When Baelfire discovered the deal and that the Darlings were trapped in Neverland because of his Dad, Bae hated Rumple more.

I’m betting Rumple had something to do with Baelfire and Hook escaping Neverland.

Feels like we should be making a new bet. Team Bae’s Doll vs Team Rumple’s Doll.

lol, I know, right?  And then watch it be something none of us have thought of!

I think it has to do with Bae because I don’t think it’s necessarily for this story to reach all the way back to Rumple’s childhood.  I’m more interested in a Dark One vs Pan story- it’s more relevant, especially if it has something to do with Rumple getting to NL in search of Bae and then losing him again. Maybe Bae *made* the doll while living in NL as opposed to carrying it with him.

I have a hunch that Rumple’s past in NL is related to how Bae left NL and ended up in our world.

That is fantastic and chilling.  It would explain a lot.  Rumpel not getting Bae in NL, but knowing he was alive centuries later.  Bae never ever wanting to see his father again–because he hurts those Bae loves.  He isn’t just angry.  He needs to protect everyone he might meet but he wants love and a family too.

The only thing left is how Bae gets out of NL to be the age he is when he does.
