KeymasterKFC: all very good points, but with Henry, at least, none of the other children thus far have been born of the Savior. I don’t know if the question “is Henry magical” is as important as “why is Emma?” Emma is not just magical, she is maybe one of–if not the most–most magical people alive, including Regina and Rumple. She is just untrained. Her magical ability is so strong and dominant that I wouldn’t be surprised that a little bit of that has passed to Henry.
As to why Emma is magical: maybe it has something to do with the amount of hardships Snow and Charming have had to face. Their TL has been so tested time and time again and yet remained strong that it somehow made Emma magical. I know that seems like a really cliche answer but it’s all I got at the moment. OR PP had a hand in all this. The Curse was going to need a Savior, so manipulate the child of the two people who are at the center of the Curse–Snow and Charming–in order to produce that Savior.

ParticipantThe video of the panel has been taken down, which sucks because I haven’t had the chance to even look at it yet. I’ve been busy most of this week prepping for an interview I had this morning.

ParticipantNot only is she the product of true love, but Emma is true love personified. Emma isn’t just magical; she IS magic in human form. When Rumple took the hairs from her parents to make a true love potion, he put a drop of that potion on the scroll on which the Dark Curse was written. It was his “safety-valve” so that Emma would be the Savior. The same DNA which Rumple used to create the true love potion to bring magic to SB is Emma’s very essence. She is the the most powerful form of magic. So, as RG said, it wouldn’t be that surprising if Henry has some of that same magical essence in him, since he’s the son of the Savior. He the product of the product of True Love. Plus, I believe Emma truly loves Neal, so that’s a double dose of True Love on his mother’s side.

SpectatorEmma was only the only one who could break the curse because of Rumble adding to the parchment in “Land Without Magic” — Season 1×22
So I don’t think Henry has any magic, only Emma.
He tells her that the True Love magic he was able to create from the strands of her parents’ hair was so powerful that, as he was making the Dark Curse, he placed a single drop of it on the parchment as a precaution. Emma realizes that’s why she’s The Savior—the only one who can break The Curse.

ParticipantRegarding Henry, he’s probably more than he appears. So, that could mean he did in fact inherit some of his mother’s magical ability.
Also, I’m still confused about what gave Cora and Regina their magical ability. I know they control it based on emotion, but where did the ability come from? Regina might have inherited it from Cora, but where on earth did Cora get it from? I doubt Cora’s parents had true love, since Cora was a real piece of work, even before she took her heart out. What made Cora so special? So, can anyone, like Snow or Charming, learn to do magic, too?

KeymasterI think A and E confirmed that once: magic is genetic but also any one with an inclination can learn it.

ParticipantAt this point we do not know about Henry, and I see nothing to rule out that he has powerful magic, or to justify thinking he does. The writers leave a lot of doors to open with future plots. Regina seemed to think she could teach Henry magic, didn’t she?

Yes, she did. Good point!
