I don’t know if Snow’s bird thing is genetic or, following the Disney story, an example of her sweet, gentle, peaceful nature. My guess is the latter.

I’ve got it downloaded as an mp4 so should be able to upload it somewhere like that Videobam site if anyone needs it.
Yeah, I was able to watch it.

August 16, 2013 at 3:47 pm #205240PriceofMagicParticipantFrom a writing and story standpoint, making Henry the overpowered kid hero trope could be very cheesy.
I don’t think they should make Henry a powered kid hero who solves every problem by using magic and everybody loves him for it because that makes him a male Mary Sue. What I would like see if they do give Henry magic, is Henry abusing that power. He’s got two of the biggest magic addicts in his family so Henry being like that isn’t to far of a stretch. Emma’s getting into magic so I could see Henry wanting to use his magic heroically like her to begin with. However, he’s still a child/becoming a teenager and they can be petty and I could see Henry using magic to impress a girl he likes, to make someone he thinks deserves it look bad, to do his homework for him etc. Neal obviously having seen the bad side of magic on Rumple would be concerned for Henry and the slippery slope he is on.
I could see Henry idolising Rumple as a role model because Henry can be very short-sighted as to the consequences of things. For example, trying to use dynamite to blow up magic, not thinking that he could’ve been blown up instead. Henry would look at what Rumple has- Belle, magic, power, big house, successfulness- and he’d want that too and think that using magic is the way to get it. He could use magic to make girls like him, he could use magic to do well in school, he could use magic to get the job he wants, he could use magic to get the house he wants etc. Henry could become quite a delinquent.

Keeper of FelixAugust 16, 2013 at 3:53 pm #205242SlurpeezParticipantI think Henry would be opposed to using magic for self gain. The reason he wanted to blow up the magic well in the first place was to destroy it. Plus, Henry knows better than anyone that magic always comes with the price. First, he was the victim of Regina’s sleeping curse and died until Emma’s TLK brought him back from the brink. Also, it’s because of Rumple bringing magic to SB that Regina went all sorts of crazy again in S2 when Cora arrived and how they very nearly got killed when Regina activated the trigger. Also, as Rumple said, bringing magic to SB is what brought the HO to SB in search of Henry. Henry’s heart could very well have magical properties, which is why PP wants it so badly. However, I just can’t see Henry becoming a delinquent when it comes to magic. If anything, I believe he’d be more like Harry Potter and willing to die to protect the ones he loves rather than see anyone else pay a price for magic.
Also, it sounds like PP is magical since he can rip shadows and fly. If anyone is going to be cast as a magical adolescent delinquent, I’d say it’d be PP, not Henry. I could picture PP offering to let Henry become the next Pan (say because he is the truest believer), but I don’t think Henry would give into that. Nor do I think Henry would choose to put any more of his family in jeopardy by using magic for selfish gain, since it always comes with a price.

August 16, 2013 at 4:39 pm #205248PriceofMagicParticipantHenry’s growing up, he can’t always be the innocent little boy caught in the crossfire. Whilst that was alright for season 1, he needs a storyline for his adolescence. Henry going off the rails would mean that his parents (Emma, Neal and Regina) would need to step up rather than letting Henry do as he pleases. Henry needs to learn that actions have consequences. So far he hasn’t experienced any bad consequences.

Keeper of FelixAugust 16, 2013 at 5:53 pm #205250RumplesGirlKeymasterWell he did get kidnapped….though I suppose that has less to do with any action he took so much as GOAT are crazy people. 😉
I know what you’re saying though. Henry, like a lot of kids, needs to learn that rules of life and the world. But I think the thing that makes Henry different from all the other kids learning this is that Henry has definitive proof that magic and things like fairies and true love exist. He literally lives in a fantasy world and right now all he sees is black and white. I think going to NL, finally leaving SB like he’s always wanted, and realizing that sometimes fairy tales are quite dark will change him. He’ll see that Regina and Emma (remember that teaser from the script they first tweeted: “Both my moms are coming…”) can work together and that it has to be him that brings them together.

This could make for a great storyline!
If Henry has magic, I could honestly see him going either way with it. He’s had his moments where he’s spoken out against it quite emphatically, but on the flipside, it was magic that saved SB, and he’s the one who encouraged that power out of Emma. He was interested in the process when Regina was making the sleeping curse for Charming.
If PP is as twisted as we’re expecting, and if he’s holding Henry prisoner, that could well result in Henry having the, “I’ll never be like you,” mentality. But then again, he’s a tween boy who’s about to hit puberty and go all crazy anyway, and if you add magical ability into that mix, even if he starts out with good intentions, one wrong, impulsive step, and he could spiral out of control.
With all 3 of his parents having different stances on magic, it would be really interesting to see how each of them reacted and how they’d influence him…
Regina – Very well versed in magic, also well versed in letting dark magic consume you and spiraling out of control. She’d probably be the first to notice if Henry started to slip into the bad stuff. Would she tell the rest, or try to handle it herself? And if she chose the latter, how would that affect her own rehab process if she’s trying to do better in the future?
Emma – Knows magic exists, knows she has it, doesn’t know how to use it. She and Henry could learn together. She’s pure, True Love, so I can’t see her turning to the dark side the way Henry may have the potential to. They could ultimately end up as adversaries, and Emma would have to learn about magic real fast if she wanted to be able to bring him back to the good side before he’s too far gone.
Neal – Dislikes magic to a rather large extent, and probably wouldn’t want his son doing it at all, but may concede that it’s part of him and he at least has to learn how to control it, so it doesn’t end up controlling him. But in that process of learning, it does end up controlling him, and Neal beats himself up for not having been more adamant about keeping his son away from magic as much as possible.
It could provide for some great interaction between all of them.
Dunno how many of you ever watched Charmed, but this is making me think of Wyatt. First born son of one of the most powerful witches ever, and there’s a future in which he’s become corrupted and rules the Underworld, and they try to figure out in present day how they can prevent his evil future from happening. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wyatt_Halliwell
August 17, 2013 at 10:26 am #205419PriceofMagicParticipantI could see Henry going to Rumple, wanting to learn magic. Rumple refuses, knowing how Bae feels about magic and not wanting to go against his son’s wishes. Henry pretends to be okay with it then goes back and steals some spellbooks from Rumple’s shop or perhaps Cora’s book from Regina. We’ve not seen that book since Regina locked it away in We are Both.
