Kristen Bauer Van Straten Returning For S4 (Second Half)

Kristin Bauer van Straten has booked a return trip to Once Upon a Time.

EW has learned exclusively that the True Blood alum will reprise her dastardly role as villain Maleficent during the second half of Once’s upcoming season.

Could this mean that Maleficent will be season 4’s other big villain after the Frozen storyline? It’s unclear as of now, but Bauer will be back as a recurring guest star for a big arc, so here’s hoping this means the show will dive more into her past, as well as Aurora’s history.

The last we saw of Maleficent, she was locked away in a cave under the clock tower, stuck in dragon form until she was slain by Emma in the season 1 finale. She then came back in nightmarish zombie form at the end of season 2.

If she is 4B’s big bad, then I guess that means she’s not really dead.  Even though we saw Emma throw a sword into her dragon form in the season one finale and the next time we saw her, she was a zombie thing in season two.

I’m not a fan of Angelina Jolie but I actually liked the Maleficient movie. I thought it was very well done.

They said she was dead in a podcast for 220. DEAD. Actually dead.

Then, I’m going to assume we’ll see her in a strictly flashback arc.  But I can’t imagine how she could possibly be alive in Storybrooke.

They finally decided to say why Regina made her a dragon to begin with.

Now I’m offically thinking there is going to be a something big happening during the 2nd half of Season 4

If Maleficent is returning then once again that just proves that A&E’s Dead Is Dead mantra is nothing more then a bunch of hot air
So in my estimation if they can bring back Maleficent then they can darn well bring back our Neal

Oh please, this is a fantasy show. Dead is never dead unless there’s a body or burial. I for one am glad to see Kristen back and not because of Maleficent. Since they left Aurora in SB in S3, and True Blood was ending I had an inkling that this was coming (that darned black fairy kept popping up).

I dont recall A & E saying that Mal was dead, but that Regina was keeping her alive in another form.

And I had assumed that Malificent was killed by Emma. I have to admit that I’m rather happy that she wasn’t.

Guys- Well…she was kind of killed by Emma. The idea is that she created a protection for this fail-safe. And whether Malificent was dead or alive her essence would protect it. So, she was killed last year. You saw it was the ashes. It was the ashes of what she was that were under the influence of Regina’s spell. That, that part of the curse that Regina had created to protect the fail-safe. And so even though Malificent was dead she was conjured up to continually protect that fail-safe from anyone getting it but Regina.

Mal is dead but “exists” as a zombie/ashes. But she’s dead. She’s only part of a protection spell that shouldn’t exist anymore given the breaking of the curse. Also, cannot leave the library basement.
