I’d love to see them delve more into the we are both issue with Belle/Lacey. I think that her differences aren’t as blatant as they might be, though she is more extreme than some of the other characters; the drinking in excess is something that Belle was prone to in FTL and also did a bit with the iced tea when she discovered it–mainly when she was without her TL, of course, as one example. But we’ve gotten so little of the characters dealing with their inner counterparts so far.

it’s funny that the guy I talk to like Lacy and all the girls hate her 😀 another reason I like Rumple so much. he didn’t like Lacy better than Belle.
Haaaa! I didn’t put these two things together with guys liking her and girls not! Too funny. And thank you for pointing it out and for noting Rumple didn’t like her. 🙂 makes my heart smile
Belle is a strong person who hasn’t had much opportunity to shine on her own. Her role has mostly been as a supporting character for Rumpel, but she’s been more prominent than minor characters such as Archie or Granny, and most of her screen time has defined her in relation to Rumpel. Now that those two are going to spend a considerable time apart, Belle’s character can develop on screen in other ways. I’m betting that she’ll be the new mayor by the time the ship returns.
