The whole “i’m playing Ursula” thing is what gets me. I think she means literally. As in “Regina will play Ursula” but not be Ursula. Ariel’s voice is rather shocking–like Ursula changed. I think Regina killed the real Ursula or something and then became her in order to fool Ariel.

    Yep, that’s my take, too.

I”m happy for Lana anyway, she really is going to kill this part of the story, her favorite kill, if Regina takes on ursula’s role and fools Ariel.

Plus Ursula has to be a GODDESS who grants a wish every year. How could that be if she is Regina?

Yeah, if Ursula is a goddess, then I don’t see how Regina could actually be her. She could impersonate her though. Would she have to kill the original in order to get away with that? Killing a goddess is a pretty major thing, but Lana did say her fave kill was this season, so maybe that’s what happens.

This might sound crazy, but what if it isn’t Regina disguising herself as Ursula, but Ursula disguising herself as Regina? Perhaps, as a sea goddess, Ursula can also see the future. Knowing that Ariel might actually meet the real Regina (assuming Ariel does meet the real Regina in the future), she modifies her appearance to look like Regina, so that Ariel thinks Regina is actually Ursula. The question is: why? What reason would Ursula have for wanting Ariel to distrust Regina?

    Interesting theory

Just found this in an interview:

Access: Is she the Evil Queen as Ursula or just Ursula?

JoAnna: She’s Ursula! Obviously, Lana, she’s an incredible actress, but it was so fun to watch her create this character and wanting so much to honor Ursula, but to also [wanting] to put her own spin on it. It was so cool to watch because she really loves the character of Ursula, so it was so cool to watch the whole process take place. It was really fun and she’s so fantastic… I’ve described her as ‘devilishly delicious.’

It’s either her being vague or confirmation that Regina is not, in fact, Ursula.

I’m going to try and reserve my opinion for the episode, because the rest of it could be really good (& I really hope it is, Ariel’s my favorite), but I am not looking forward to this bit.  I was really hoping Ursula would be her own character.

I recently re-watched Disney’s Little Mermaid and Ursula literally steals the scenes from Ariel when they’re on-screen together. She is an awesome Disney villain with her own sass and character.  I feel like Once could have made Ursula a completely separate character from Lana’s The Evil Queen but they chose to give Lana the role because she’s a fan.

I may be the minority on this one and if I am, just my opinion.  Still looking forward to the episode!!

You’re not alone, I hope we will see the true goddess of the sea someday.
