Did Jefferson take Rumple to the Land Without Color (LWC) the times he visited Whale? We don’t see him in the episode but how else did Rumple get there.
Also part of me wants LWC to be the same realm as Dorothy’s Kansas.
I know I know Rumple wanted Dorothy’s shoes in the episode The Doctor and since they had been moved to another land they weren’t of use to him anymore. This is because he wanted the shoes “to get to that other land” meaning Kansas. This kinda overrides the whole Kansas is the Land Without Color since In The Name of the Brother Rumple travels to LWC no problem. But since LWC is Europe and Kansas is the US, maybe the hat/Rumple’s mode of travel could only allow him to enter at a specific point in space and time but the shoes would take him to the thing he wanted the most (since Dorothy desperately wanted go home it took her home)
Does anyone else have any theories on the matter?

January 25, 2013 at 7:52 pm #169990clockwatcherParticipantBut isn’t the LWC TECHNICALLY a science world, not a magic world?
Isn’t that why the EF hed magical hearts, because they have magic?January 25, 2013 at 8:24 pm #169993PriceofMagicParticipantRumple said that Frankenstein’s world had magic but that it was weak and neglected (or something along those lines.)
All magic comes with a price!

I thought about it and at first I agreed with you. However, why did he send Jefferson to look for the ruby slippers in Oz when he needed them so badly? Was he just too busy to do something that important, I don’t know if I agree with that.

It’s more of a brownish tint than the greyscale Frankenstein world. Also, Rumple heavily suggests that the Kansas that Dorothy is from is the real world Kansas, and not some fictional version of Kansas. Rumple also specifies that it’s “A Land Without Magic”, hence why he wants to reach it and find Baelfire.
If other stories exists in A Land Without Color, I can see it being other horror stories such as Dracula, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and The Wolf Man (maybe not, because of Red already being a werewolf).
As for Rumple being able to appear in A Land Without Color presumably without Jefferson’s help, that is another mystery that may or may not be explained. I have a hunch that the producers might have wanted Jefferson appearing in the episode instead, but there could have been a schedule conflict with Sebastian Stan. Sebastian’s involved with a play in New York right now, so it wouldn’t surprise me. Not to mention he’s a busy actor in general.

I guess it could be strange to see Dorothy not really coming from our world (feel the same way about Alice starting somewhere other than Victorian England..)
As for Rumpel realm jumping – it seems like he’s been collecting a lot of items that transport people to different realms, that he was trying to find one to our world before he went through with the curse. He was the one who had the looking glass, wanted the ruby slippers, etc. And now I’m calling these items port keys in my head! Wouldn’t be surprised if he had something from LWC as well – going to suggest the Time Machine because I’m kind of in an H.G. Wells mode now.
Rumpel had another way of jumping locations but he wanted Regina to meet Jefferson. He knew it was part of his greater goal of enacting the curse that she use the hat later on (we still haven’t gotten confirmation about the season 1 claim that Rumpel sees the future, but I’m thinking it will be coming up in the next couple of weeks).
