There’s gotta be some way around the “once you set foot on land” thing, otherwise Hook and his crew were living on the sea for a helluva long time, and I know pirates love the sea, but surely even a couple of hundred years non-stop is pushing the love affair to its limit.
I like KFChimera’s idea about Hook having lost much of his crew when they went to try and save Bae, (please let him try to save Bae). PP would have let Bae go if he’d foreseen that the boy he eventually needed was going to be Bae’s son. But Hook getting Bae back would screw up that plan, so if Hook and his crew came looking for Bae, they’d have met with opposition.
Perhaps there was a certain specific time that Bae had to be released from NL in order for him to land at exactly the right place and time in our world to meet Emma and produce Henry. Emma’s existence and whereabouts were dictated by the curse, so PP had to coordinate FTL time, our world time, and NL time, (whatever that is) and kick Bae out of NL at just the right time. (Imagine the crazy T-word that PP has stuck up on his wall to keep track of everything.)
But now back to the topic of Hook leaving NL and how and why. I was sort of surprised that he learned about the dagger so quickly. Why then did he spend so much time in NL if he already had the info about the weapon to kill Rumple. I’d like to think that he was hanging around trying to hatch a plan for rescuing Bae, or even just hanging around in case Bae got in trouble that Hook could help him get out of. Could PP have eventually convinced Hook that Bae was dead, and that’s why he left? If PP does end up being the grand puppet master in this, then Hook was just another playing piece in the game to be manipulated, so PP probably wanted him to leave NL, which is why he could.

We can also imagine Hook found something that pushed him to return to FTL and then he found out about Belle (maybe he met Maleficient as some speculated), then all his crew died except Smee.
I wonder if Smee the rat will have snuck on to the J.R…..hm….maybe Smee has a larger role to play. How exactly did he get a magic bean of all things? Was there more to that story? It might be a good twist to find out Smee was up to shenanigans.

May 14, 2013 at 12:37 pm #194155RumplesGirlKeymasterIf Peter has the gift of sight, could he see Belle in Regina’s tower and also that Hook would make an alliance with Regina and then with Cora and thereby be protected from the Curse? How much of these events, starting with Rumple even, did he “See” if he can in fact…see.

Except unlike her, he was taken somewhere he would never age. Maybe he didn’t choose to go to NL, but was forced there to serve as an oracle for someone else?

May 14, 2013 at 12:56 pm #194163RumplesGirlKeymasterCrackpot!
If Peter is working as oracle for someone, what about the Wizard (as in Oz?) He didn’t actually have any magical powers, but maintained the allusion of power through tricks. If he had a secret seer boy who could SEE the future, he might be able to maintain his status as Wizard.
This is really crackpot-y. But if the Wizard travels, via air balloon, to NL and never exits the balloon he could get his “reading” from Peter, go back to Oz where he pretends that he has seen what is coming and uses it to his advantage. Meanwhile back on NL, Peter is allowed to do what he wishes, like ripping boys shadows from them.

As far as crackpot theories go, I like it!

I don’t think Smee is around anymore – he was turned into a rat and “scurried away” in S2.
They can’t be stuck in NL – something has to get around that. I like the pixie dust=free roaming idea, RG. And I think flying would be awesome if done well but I am laughing picturing Rumple and Regina flying. It would be comical or maybe it could be a dream sequence. Snow and Charming could pull it off, and Hook and Emma as well.
Ships have been known to be infested with rats 😆 I like to think Rump has him hidden in his pocket and will pull him out at just the right time when needed.

Well, ya know, he keeps random tears in jars for years just in case they’ll come in handy, so why not a rat in his pocket. 😆
