I think they are drawing some parallels between Rumple and PP. Could it be that every magical world has some form the dark one?
There was recently a bit of discussion in a thread somewhere around here about whether there’ll be some sort of correlation between Wraiths, Shadows and Dark Ones. The idea came up that the Wraith could be the previous Dark One who Rumple took his power from, and that’s why he used the dagger to summon it. And perhaps in the same vein, the Shadow is the previous Pan. It’s all just guesswork right now though, because we don’t know the specifics of how PP came to power. He does traditionally carry a dagger though.
Something tells me Regina’s adoption wasn’t exactly legal either, considering that Mr. Gold said Regina was trifling with details when she claimed Henry was hers. Technically, the adoption never really went through any state jurisdiction. So, there needed to be someone like August or Tinerkerbelle who brought baby Henry to Storybrooke, ME, a place that technically no one could get to, so it had to be someone who was magical and someone who knew how to get there.
This is why I think someone from THO had to be involved in Henry getting to SB. That “adoption” was set up because this was the kid that PP was gonna need once he reached a certain age, so that kid had to be kept somewhere safe. Couldn’t have him running around in the world at large where they could lose track of him. Having him trapped in SB was the perfect place for him. Which I think leads back to PP being the one who really wanted the Curse cast. He needed SB to be created for the purpose of having an isolated place for this kid to grow up.

Horowitz: Rufio belongs to another take on the Pan thing. We’re not using that character that was created by another world, but we are making a loving nod towards a movie and a mythology that we enjoy. Hook was a movie that we saw when we were younger.
Kitsis: Everyone has great respect for that movie in the [writers’] room and you realize collectively everyone grew up loving that movie.
Horowitz: We wanted to give the fans a little nod to that. So, if you look closely, I think you might get a nice, fun nod.
I discovered a photo of a Lost Boy with a red strand in his hair. I think that could be the nod to Rufio, who had a red mohawk in the movie “Hook.”

That link to the pic doesn’t wanna load, but if there’s a Lost Boy with red in his hair, that may well be the nod to Rufio.
Ugh. So annoying. I’ll have to upload it as a screenshot. Hopefully, I won’t get in trouble with VCF for doing so.

The point about the dagger is a good one!
If Wraiths are previous DOs this could be a good way for the show to fulfill the Seer’s prophecy about Rumple’s undoing but still keep RC on show. This could also be a good quest hook for Neal, Phillip, Mulan, and Aurora to go retrieve his soul like they did with Phillip in the EF. However, Regina said during her tango with the wraith that wraiths are dead. Maybe there is more to it and it’s like a curse that could be broken. Enter Belle with TLK! Maybe this is a convoluted long shot, but I think it would be a really fun to watch Rumple be the one who is in need of saving!

I think the compromise VCF and Daniel came to was that we could embed one image of his set and then link to the rest. I don’t know why your original link didn’t work as it takes you TO SpoilerTV.
But yeah, that is some red. If they hadn’t put out a casting call for Devin for 305, I’d say it was him but we know they are working on 304 right now.
