I definitely think Lily is going to important later, both because of the unexplained star birthmark/ brand thing and because I think it was mentioned in her casting call or something that she would be. Anyway, I was curious about Lillith in mythology, so I looked her up. In Jewish tradition, she’s the mother of all demons and eats children. More pertinent to this season’s storyline, however, she (or, in some versions, her daughter) possessed a girl through a mirror. What with the Snow Queen’s mirror-centric plan and Will Scarlet having somehow come from Wonderland, which we all know is mostly accessed through mirrors, I think, unfortunately, Lily looks like she will be playing the villain in this season. So, some thoughts:
We don’t know who Lily’s birth parents are. We also don’t know why the Snow Queen wants a family so bad. Could these two things be connected; as in, could the Snow Queen be Lily’s birth mother? They sure don’t look much alike… We also haven’t seen the Sorcerer (the original owner of the star-hat) yet. Could he have something to do with Lily?

Could Lily be the black fairy? Her star was black plus blue fairy is known as blue Star.

All magic comes with a price!

Oh, interesting thought! I’d wager yes. It’s a definite possibility.

Crack theory: Lily is the Blue Fairy’s biological daughter.

Or the daughter or the black fairy. I read on tumblr that perhaps Lily is the black swan to Emma’s Swan Princess

Also guys, I know Narnia is probably really unlikely to happen here but… What if Lily is the daughter of Snow Queen, who is the white witch from Narnia.  I remembered this bit of information:

Although the White Witch appears human (despite her irregular skin colour and abnormal height), Narnian rumour holds that she descends from Adam’s first wife, Lilith, and was half-Jinn and half-giantess, and thus not even partially human

Thought it might be interesting to add to this discussion. And yeah, they don’t have to actually show Narnia for us to know. Thye could just say Snow Queen once ruled an entire land before being captured in the urn and leave us the pieces.

Maybe Lilly is Tiger Lilly from Peter Pan and the star represents “second star to the right and straight on til morning”

Princess we had the same thought.

Emma and Lily are the same age. Someone sent Lily to the land without magic to beat Reginas curse. What if it was the SQ and she marked her hoping to one day find her?

Or I’m going with Sorcerors descendant.

If it weren’t for that star, I’d say we won’t see Lilith again. However, I’ll give another crack theory.

Magical beings, when granted released from the Sorcerer’s hat, are marked with a star. Their star disappears from the box, and is transferred to the person. Like a brand. They are branded by the sorcerer and sent to the land without magic.

I am thinking there is much more to Lilly that we will find out in a later season and I think it will be that she is a villain.

It’s really sad that we think she will be evil. It’s like the good guys get no play here anymore. I am going to be different and say she is a hero like Harry Potter. Her scar means something and like Emma, she has a destiny to fulfill. Lily was also adopted, as she said. Who are her parents? Also, this episode had tons of SwanQueen moments…. I’m not going to lie… I could easily hop aboard this Emma/Lilly ship. Let’s see where the future takes us.

Sadly, when was the last time we got a new character that was a good guy straight off? Hook started as a villain, Neal was the guy that got Emma arrested, Greg and Tamara kidnap Henry, even Elsa was feared as a villain  for a bit, that is not to say that Lilly couldn’t become quickly reformed. The only guys that has stayed basically good is Robin Hood. I am loving the idea that she has a fairy connection and that seems very plausible (and missing the star connect make me think I should stop speculating after missing something so obvious).

StoryBrookeGirl, I never knew the mirror connection in the Lillith myth but it does seem to be possible connection for this arch.

Also, I don’t think Lily has to be evil. After all, the name Lily comes from the lily flower,

Yeah, but they made a point of having her father call her by her full name, which is Lilith, which instantly conjures up a less sweet meaning for the name due to demon mythology.

Could Lily be the black fairy? Her star was black plus blue fairy is known as blue Star.

The star she drew on Emma was black, but Lily’s star was flesh coloured, like it was a birthmark, a brand or a burn of some type.

I read on tumblr that perhaps Lily is the black swan to Emma’s Swan Princess

I’ve always thought of Tamara as the Black Swan to Emma’s Swan Princess. In Swan Lake, the Black Swan poses as the woman the Prince wants to be with in order to trick him into being with her, which is basically what Tamara did. When they’re casting roles, I believe they have to specify if they want someone of a particular race to play a character, and Tamara was played by a black woman, so they likely wanted to cast the woman coming between Emma and her old love as being black for a reason, and if that reason was guy-caught-between-Swan-Princess-and-Black-Swan, then it fits.

If it weren’t for that star, I’d say we won’t see Lilith again. However, I’ll give another crack theory.

That would be pretty cool, good theory.
