Keymasterthe OUaT FB page posted a pic earlier today with a new hashtag: #DarkSnow
That’s probably going to be the one to tweet this upcoming episode.

ParticipantWell #DarkSnow makes sense to anybody having seen last week’s ep so that one I can get on board with. Can always use it in a way that’s simple like…time to see if we’re going to see more of #DarkSnow tonight on #OUAT…that participates without telling a major plot point. Kinda like how mentioning the beanstalk for tallahassee wasn’t a surprise because they said at the end of the doctor they were going to have to climb the beanstalk to get the compass. Anything that was already set in place as “this is where we have to go next” is fair game I would think.

ModeratorYeah, even though I don’t personally avoid spoilers, I do think constantly promoting the episode with #OneWillDie wasn’t the best move on their part. The death would have been more dramatic if people didn’t see it coming. However, from a marketing sense, I realize why they did it. Hyping up that someone dies will still attract viewers to tune in, knowing that this must be a HUGE episode. It’s the same logic with promos, which ABC WANTS people to see despite possible spoilers. It’s a double-edged sword.

KeymasterEvery time they promoted the #OneWillDie spoiler on FB or Twitter, I looked at people’s predictions. Most of them said Cora, but a surprising amount of people were claiming it could be anyone from Rumple to Charming. So, while the death wasn’t a total surprise, for the casual viewer it was a bit of a mystery.
But ItachiIshtar is right about the double-edge sword. You don’t promote the big episodes, you won’t get the numbers. Spoil it too much and you won’t get the numbers because people think they know what is going to happen.

So Myril, if I’m reading this graph right, there was a pretty big spike between 8-10:00 pm which is when the East and West coast would have viewed OUaT, yes?
Ignore the graph, that shows only the sum of tweets they count for all the shows and programs they monitor on Twitter. Only gives a visual idea why prime time might deserve its name.
More interesting is what ItachiIshtar already pointed to. Once is the number one talked about broadcast prime time show on Sunday evening.
Sorry for sending you so unprepared in the wilderness of social media numbers and statistics 😉
Twitter is for everyone in marketing paradies and hell at the same time. It seems to offer so many possibilities to market as much as to learn about markets. There are many trying to make sense of all the nifty numbers and data one can squeeze out of Twitter.
Guess somewhere out there should be numbers for Facebook and Google+ as well, but haven’t found them yet nicely presented regularily online like this data about Twitter.
There are shows creating a lot more buzz on Twitter than Once, have to be realistic, but it does okay for Sunday eve, and for a show neither aimed mostly at teenagers (or anyone still feeling like one, *coughs*) nor at the typical nerd and geek types.
@MysteryKat25 Yup, Twitter and Nielsen are already working on it, taking social media into acount, but officially it will start with this Fall season. It’s good that Once now seem to come up with hashtags for the episodes to make it better visible (one of the things many not so familiar with Twitter often complain about is, that its a rather confusing fast stream of statements and news, but with hashtags it can be a very informative, interactive and useful medium).
#OneWillDie was not a bad promotion idea, sparking some speculation who and, well, until the show aired and showed who no one could be sure of the outcome. Think it was the one thing of this episode they could use for this kind of promotion.

I thought the article from BUZZ FEED was interesting because since OUAT is surrounded by loosing shows it kind of drags the show down… lead in AM Video is getting to be more boring… if I was not afraid I would miss the start of OUAT … I would not have it on…. I have yet to find the 9 pm shows worth watching… I do usually check in with Daniels LIVE chat post show but sometimes I just go to be early…. as I am too bored to watch any of the current shows. What do you think???

KeymasterSo we’re still the third ranked show on ABC (we were last week too), but we didn’t hid 10 million viewers like last week. Our ratings share dropped, but not a whole lot. Last week it was 2.97 (they rounded up to 3.0) and this week it’s 2.92. But it’s only Wednesday, more people could watch between now and Sunday. It’s interesting that we’re doing better than Scandal because I hear about that show a lot (don’t watch it).

ParticipantLooks like Lana will be live-tweeting for the west coast airing tonight. Hopefully that helps with ratings. I’ll be watching live on the east coast, dvring and re-watching alongside the west coast for the livetweets so hopefully that helps?
Hashtag for tonight is #DarkSnow last I heard. Every little bit helps!
