Live +7 ratings are in for The Evil Queen
We finished with a 2.9 ratings share, up .9% from an initial 2.0 ratings share. We fell out of the top ten in network TV, landing at #13.

They have been bad all season, and getting worse. I know its not freak out time yet, but I was just perusing articles re the finale – down 33% on last years finale. And every episode seemed to be a new series low. Ouch. Man, it’s not looking good. They can absorb a hit this season, but I don’t think it could take similar declines next season. They really better knock it out of the park – at least stabilize the ratings. It’s amazing how network shows are being caned by cable shows though – Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, etc. ugh. What happened? I love OUAT, but this season was a mess. Confusing and all over the place. They should have stuck with the formula from season one – lots of focus on the main core characters, and lots of Rumple/Regina and Emma/Regina.
For whatever reason that just seemed to work – I know I missed seeing those three together much this season. They kept them sepaerated too much. Now they are BFF’s (well, sort of LOL) hopefully we will see all their relationships develop more – instead of silly screaming matches. They are family now, so hopefully lots of angsty stuff – Regina/Snow, Emma/Regina, Emma/Charming. And please more Emma & Regina – they are more powerful together than when fighting each other. I would not want to be Peter Pan right now – Henry’s moms are the Evil Queen and the Saviour. And we know how feisty they both are – He couldn’t have picked two worse people to tick off right? He wont know what hit him when they combine to kick his butt – well, i hope so anyway. Haha. Plus, I’m over them all hating on each other – 2 seasons of that was quite enough. They are sort of like the power rangers now or the A Team! 😆

May 14, 2013 at 12:26 am #194036RumplesGirlKeymasterI think a few things will help:
1) refocusing on the regulars : which A and E have said is what they want to do for S3
2) This is up to ABC but they’ve got to sort out the hiatus situation. Last year, nothing could hurt ONCE. And they assumed the same would be true this year but the story was vastly more complicated and casual viewers stopped tuning in. I want 11 episodes all in a row leading up to the winter break, then a three month break for ONCE:WL and the Olympics then come back in March and give us 11 straight episodes until the finale. I think that will help
3) They need to promote the DVDs like crazy. Netflix will help. People can get caught up.

Number 1 is good to hear. It seems we would go whole episodes with barely and Regina or Rumple. And too much focus on all these secondary characters. Plus, the main characters were always apart and never interacting. They were all off doing different things. Now they are united hopefully we get lots of good relationship development – Rumple, Regina, The Charmings, Emma. I feel they’ve avoided a lot of the intense relationship “family” stuff in exchange for cheap monster of the week plot lines – more like season one please! That whole Regina being the adoptive mother & Emma the birth mother relationship, Snow/Charming and Emma their daughter, and Rumple being family was all good stuff – we need more. And yeah, the constant breaks were a disaster.

May 14, 2013 at 1:09 am #194050MatthewPaulModeratorFortunately Season 3 will have a clean slate, so it will likely get high ratings for the premiere like any other Season premiere during the Fall. What is key, though, is trying to maintain those ratings to prevent another dip during the middle of the Season. Ratings for the first half of Season 2 were pretty good, but for whatever reason ratings declined to below 8 million live viewers with “In The Name Of The Brother” and we never saw above 8 million for the remainder of the Season. Something in that point in the Season really seemed to turn off a bunch of Nielsen viewers.
May 14, 2013 at 1:14 am #194052RumplesGirlKeymasterThat episode…yeah. I’m always surprised to remember that episode was written by Jane Espenson. Her stuff is always so strong (for EVERYTHING the woman writes. I look at the tv I love and I swear it’s like I’ve been following her career). I think that episode just turned people off for some reason. And then to follow with Tiny didn’t help. Manhattan, my favorite of the season, didn’t pull in the numbers ABC was hoping for even though it was probably the biggest of the season until last night.

Dr Frankstien, the giant to many filler stories in my opinion plus too many breaks why they don’t do reruns instead if they are on a break is beyond me.
RG I am surprise you haven’t taken that Grimm quiz that I posted. 😯

So you raise a really good point HappyEndings. For you, the SB stuff wasn’t very good but I was drawn to the SB stuff more than the FTL stuff. The flashbacks for me were hit and miss. So it’s about finding that delicate line. It’s a hard job but I think A and E are up to it.
Uh..I did. Totally not posting my score. 😳
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 14, 2013 at 1:25 am #194057kiwiParticipantIt was odd. There were many episodes which felt like they didn’t really connect to main overall plot. They were interesting, just not relevant to the main characters. And when they did appear it was briefly. The Whales brother one was a classic example. It didn’t have much main plot connection, and it was tenuous at best to everything else. Same with Tiny – interesting but not really worth a whole episode. I reckon you could probably carve out about 1/3 of the episodes, pick the few main points from those dumped and the main plot would still be ok – just seemed like a lot of padding. People lost interest I guess. I wonder if 22 episodes it stretching the story too thin? I realize network tv needs content, but I wonder if the quality suffers because of it.
