The screams for Colin were louder than the screams for some of the core cast. They need to trot him out big time in season three, which I think they’ll be doing since we're going to Neverland
Yes, exactly! I think you’re hit the nail on the head!!! 😀
I’m not ready to give up on Once Upon A Time yet, and this is the reason why.
If ABC were to suddenly cancel it, I think they’d put themselves into the hands of some very rabid fans. I really hope they see that there were several THOUSAND (like 7,000) people live streaming Paley yesterday. I think ABC will fight for it because they’ve never had a show do this well in this time and day slot, but season three needs to be tighter. They need to focus on some key chracters and have less “newbies”, in my very humble opinion. Since we're going to Neverland then I expect Hook and Peter Pan be very important, but I don’t need back stories for all the lost boys.

These three episodes are seeming to be the strongest of the season it really sucks that it’s getting these crappy numbers now. After accounting for DVR and internet hopefully we’ll get something decent. And wow that Red Window show just completely bombed in its premiere ABC overall has a problem they need to fix.

This is going to sound terrible, but I’m hoping that with the bombing of some new shows like Red Widow, ABC will refocus and make the shows that are loved (like OUaT) stronger and put more energy into them.

I don’t think that’s terrible, at all. I think if someone is going to ask a network to give them money to work on a project, that in return for it, they make sure it returns performance to the investment! If I’m going to ask somebody to budget 50 grand in money, I’ll make sure that it performs beyond what one might expect out of that 50 grand.
March 4, 2013 at 7:13 pm #177017Killian JonesParticipantThat’s the thing the ABC lineup is in bad shape it’s not like the show is putting out a bad product all things considered Once is still the best thing ABC has going for them
March 4, 2013 at 7:16 pm #177018RumplesGirlKeymasterI will say this: yesterday at Paley, H and K seemed very optimistic about Once’s future. Even past season 3. I think they know what they need to do, it’s a matter of keeping the casual non-obsesseive viewer tuned in. So, play their strengths: Hook and CaptainSwan seem to be HUGE compared to other things right now, so play it up. Stop introducing new one time only characters for filler (I know it’s necessary sometimes but I really don’t need Jack’s backstory for instance).

This is true, but ABC competes with other networks, and isn’t going to want to be 3rd out of 4 in ratings. They have sponsors, and stock holders who they will want to assure that investing in ABC’s stock and projects are profitable, and are a good investment. Their sponsors will track how many people will be expected to see their advertisements, and they will track where the best places are to buy those slots. Their stock holders will be interested in how ABC invests it’s resources, and how those investments are returned. ABC is by no means in trouble, but their exectives are smart people and they aren’t going to want to make any decisions that could get them there. If Once is the best thing ABC has going for them, then that is why I fear for Once Upon A Time after next season if the ratings don’t get any better. I believe with 100% of my confidence though, that those ratings can get better, and that Once Upon A Time can be the main topic of conversation at every watercooler in America every Monday morning.

Red Widow debute right after OUAT … but I agree with you I think it will bomb… I did not even watch it. If Fox’s MOB DOCTOR bombed… wouldn’t ABC realize people do not want to see such stupid shows.
March 4, 2013 at 7:52 pm #177035RumplesGirlKeymasterI often wonder if ABC hires people to go through forums like ours and see what fans are saying. If they do:
ABC: listen to what we’ve been saying in the above!!! We love this show to pieces and we want it to be around for a long time."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love" -
