I didn’t read his reaction that way at all. He seemed pretty shocked. And all he said was he couldn’t leave Zelena in NYC, not that he was staying with her.
I went back to re-watch to pinpoint why it rubbed me the wrong way. It’s their choice of words, “I’m sorry, I can’t leave her here.” He’s just found out that the woman who killed his wife has been raping him to make a baby, and the way they worded it “I can’t leave her” just has the wrong connotation IMO. Had they had him say, “I’m sorry, we have to take her with us, because she’s carrying my child,” that would come across differently IMO. That would sound like he’s on Regina’s side, instead of almost sounding sympathetic towards Zelena.
I’m convinced this the pregnancy was all a ploy to get back in Storybrooke so she can get her real happy ending.
If so then it’s risky to fake it when it can so easily be dis-proven. If Regina’s got half a brain, she’ll make Zelena pee on a stick before she agrees to take her back to SB with them.

She might be powerful but not even Zelena can cause a baby to spring forth from her baby, Zeus style! Nine months from now, even Robin might notice if there is no baby….

I agree, I think the phrasing is off, and gives the impression that Robin has developed some kind of relationship with Zelena. On the other hand, if he is, indeed, utterly shocked, then in some senses it’s no better (or rather, it’s worse in its own way), because it sends a potentially really problematic message.
Essentially, and now that we know they’ve been intimate, the idea is that Robin is unable to see the differences past Marian’s physical body, and her physical body is the only reality of her identity, that trumps all others (and any alarm bells that might be going off). This is a kind of gender-normative representation of how men supposedly approach relationships, which I think is troubling.
One might argue that there’s no way anyone could come to the conclusion that “wait, this is a body snatcher!” But is the trick of magically emulating someone else so unheard of in EF that Robin wouldn’t even dream of thinking that something like that might be happening to “Marian”? Now, I can’t remember for sure, but hasn’t Cora pulled off a similar trick at some point (someone who has a better memory of the show might correct me here?)
In other words, if you don’t have a concept of, say, plastic surgery, then if you see a friend’s suddenly radically altered nose, you wouldn’t think “Hmm, looks like they got some work done,” but you just might if you know plastic surgery exists, even if you’ve never had direct experience with it. Same applies here.

Hmpf, I wouldn’t bet on it until, say, the blanket bundle that Zelena keeps carrying around is due to start walking >:-D
Seriously, though, wouldn’t the endgame be to get back to SB? Outside of SB presumably Zelena doesn’t have any magic except for her cloaking pendant. In SB the situation would presumably be different, though just how much magic she has isn’t clear. A really good reason to leave her in NYC, if you ask me — maybe she can use her pendant and become mayor 😉

I would kind of agree with this if they weren’t in NYC. They left Storybrooke for a Land Without Magic. I don’t see any way Robin would have the thought that the little personality quirks “Marian” were related to any type of long con glamour in such a setting.

I’ve been trying to figure this out as well. Zelena faked the Snow Queen curse to get Roland and Robin away from Regina so he would fall in “love” with her. Ok. Not sure how long that’s suppose to last…
Zelena finds out about the Author because of the conversation Robina and Rumple have in Neal’s apartment. She tells Rumple that she can’t quite get Robin to fall for her so now she wants the Author to write her a happy ending. Ok. Clearly that doesn’t involve continuing to live as Marian because that is ‘dull’.
So she gets Rumple’s help. He has is vague conversation about ‘grasping your happy ending’ with Robin. Robin decides to recommit to his marriage and…she gets pregnant? This will ensure that Regina and Robin will not leave her out of Storybrooke so that she can meet up with Rumple.
At this point…I’m not sure what Zelena wants. To become Regina? Continue to make Robin and Regina miserable? Bring Cora back? Who knows!

April 27, 2015 at 12:48 pm #302880sharonParticipantI miss Season 1.
Oh – and this is a little off topic, but can anyone remind me why Regina is the Mayor again? I thought Snow White was the mayor since it was her curse second time around…
April 27, 2015 at 12:52 pm #302881PriceofMagicParticipantI guessed the Zelena is pregnant twist a few weeks ago, kind of obvious. Only question is now if Zelena is really pregnant or if she’s just faking and then is going to have a “miscarriage” just to further screw with OQ.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixApril 27, 2015 at 1:13 pm #302883MatthewPaulModeratorAnother possible option, and one that I think would be controversial in itself, is if Regina gets Isaac to write away Zelena’s pregnancy. It would solve the pregnancy obstacle for Outlaw Queen, but I could see it getting backlash if people view it as “magical abortion.”
April 27, 2015 at 1:20 pm #302885PriceofMagicParticipantSo I reckon it’d make more sense for Zelena to plan to have ALL the sex with Robin that she could, in order to get herself pregnant.
Whilst Zelarian and Robin were getting it on, where was Roland? Neal’s apartment is only one bedroom.
Zelena might actually be pregnant because she’d obviously told Robin before Regina got there. However, on the other hand, she could have lied to Robin because she knew Regina was on her way.
This episode sank OQ completely in my mind. Regina, the supposed love of Robin’s life, turns up and says Marian is really Zelena and Robin accuses her of lying as if Regina was jealous and was saying anything to split Robin and Marian up? The woman who actually did what she could to save “Marian” in 4A? Seriously? Regina needs to kick Robin to the curb because if Regina accepts him when Robin inevitably comes crawling back then she is not the smart sassy woman we were introduced to in season 1.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixApril 27, 2015 at 1:32 pm #302887SlurpeezParticipantThe more I think about it, the less likely Zelena really being pregnant seems to be. Why would Zelena want to be saddled with a baby? Just to get one up on Regina? While I could see her using a pregnancy to her advantage, I can’t see her embracing motherhood. Zelena seems more like Cruella. Does she really wish to be a mother the same way Regina and Maleficent do? Not likely. Zelena seemed to be mocking marriage and motherhood in her phone conversation with Regina. Also, I’m thinking Zelena’s ‘pregnancy’ is a misdirection. The real twist and reason for the 6-week time jump is that Regina, rather than Zelena, will really be pregnant with Robin’s child.
