What locations have been mentioned or seen so far? Do you think there is any significance to them?
For instance August was in Phuket, Thailand and the tags on his motorcycle said Kansas.
Boston is also referenced a lot.[adrotate group="5"]May 26, 2012 at 3:10 am #147754sing.act.teachParticipantPhuket is a LOST reference. Kansas is Walt Disney’s home state. Boston ….. Not sure.
May 26, 2012 at 3:58 am #147756icebladeParticipantI really wonder how vast the known world of FTL actually is. We’ve seen indications of at least five castles belonging to the Evil Queen, Maleficent, King George/Prince Charming, Prince Thomas, King Midas. I bet there are 2 large and detailed maps (FTL and SB) hiding out in some secret location (physical or electronic) that only the writers can access.
I think the creators are going to find themselves bombarded by minutiae questions about FTL to the level like they’ve never seen before. Lost had such a simpler setting being placed in essentially the real world.
May 26, 2012 at 6:00 am #147761merryleeplayingParticipantForgot to add Phoenix, Arizona. Wiki says a phoenix is “….bird with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet …”
May 26, 2012 at 9:36 am #147763miaParticipantThe Phoenix is a bird of fire that has many powers. When killed (or dying of natural causes) it falls to ashes and then is reborn within them. It is a never-ending cicle. That’s where the idiom “rise from the ashes” comes from. 🙂 The pheonix is a metaphor for that. It is also often used for people who never give up, no matter what has happened to them. It’s also a symbol for re-incarnation. It has loads of other meanings, stories, etc. Probably why they picked it as the place for Henry’s brith. 🙂
May 26, 2012 at 12:34 pm #147765antbeeParticipantYes, I agree about Phoenix. I think it was picked as a clue to Baelfire being Henry’s father. I think his name could definitely be associated with a phoenix, and like a phoenix, I think he had a rebirth on Earth, so he’ll have a different name here than Baelfire and probably an entirely different personality which is why if he is Henry’s father, Emma didn’t have any kind words about him. I’m just hoping he won’t be entirely evil, but it’s possible that the show could go that angle.
As for Boston, I guess they probably just picked it because it’s the closest metropolis to Storybrooke, Maine, and most viewers would not be familiar with a large city in Maine.

Yes, I’m worried about what happens to Storybrooke next season. I think it’s too unwieldy to have all the residents be able to leave now although it seems like they might be able to once the curse was broken, but then I wonder how dramatically Storybrooke will change now that everyone remembers who they are.
Will the old leaders try to have kingdoms like in the Enchanted Forest and Storybrooke will slowly start to resemble the Enchanted Forest with castles springing up everywhere? Or will things just stay the status quo because it’s much easier and cheaper for the show than having to give the whole town a makeover?
ETA: I meant to add Boston was not in Maine. I think most viewers would know Boston as opposed to Bangor or Portland.
May 27, 2012 at 1:50 pm #147807hjbauParticipantI don’t think we can assume that Regina’s kingdom is over the other kingdoms. I did wonder that at first, but they really haven’t made it clear.

I think the town will still look the same. Probably because it would be cheaper to keep it that way. I suppose “they” could do a mixture. Outside looks like current day but the inside could be FTL because of magic. But there could be continuity problems with that. It would be funny to see if they could pull that off. Characters going through a doorway. One side is current day style & clothing & conveniences. Then POOF inside is FTL clothing & furnishings. Of course does that mean the inside of a garage for cars becomes the stable for horses? Talk about horsepower under the hood. hmmm … wonder if keys are needed when exiting the stable on a horse to be able to turn the car off when parking?…. 😆
June 10, 2012 at 7:27 am #148543arjay369ParticipantJust a quick question on the “physical” location of Storybrooke – Was it ever made clear if Storybrooke was a coastal town or is on a lake or river? I know it’s a bit of a trivial question but sometimes I’m a stickler for details – as in they get stuck in my head until I sort them out, lol. I know Storybrooke has a dock and marine garage, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s coastal. I live near a man-made lake/reservoir that spans three counties. I just wish that part of the town’s locale had been made clearer.
June 10, 2012 at 10:09 am #148548miaParticipantWould Emma have made that lobster comment if it wasn’t coastal? Just wondering since I’ve never been to Maine.
