What is going on with logging in on this site? Half the time i can’t get in. This time there was some weird math questions to get in. What is going on? Is this a moderator problem? Something the moderators are doing because they don’t want to bother with the website during the holidays and just turned it off or what? I haven’t been able to log in for two days.
Why are threads being closed instead of actually being moderated? If someone is calling another poster a name or demeaning their thought process then call them out or delete their post, don’t close the whole thread. I don’t get what is going on on this forum. It is definitely one of the best forums, especially when it comes to keeping track of the spoilers, and yet there is no allowance for open discussion.
Just, what is going on?

As for closing topics…That’s a decision that is consulted on and decided by mods and Daniel. It’s done for a variety of reasons (mostly escalating conflict and people refusing to listen to the mods tell people to cool it). It’s never an easy decision and often I reopen topics once people have had time to step away. Matt and I have been doing this for almost five years. We have a pretty good understanding when we need to shut things down and everything is done with Daniels ideas and input and desires for what he wants his forum to be in mind. There is plenty of allowence for open discussion which is why I don’t close a thread without issuing several warnings, with an explanation for why it’s closed and if there is any intention to reopen.
Under no circumstances will I pubically “call out” an individual for conduct. I do that privately. Mod notes are directed at everyone. And finally while I can appreciate that not everyone will like or understand mod decisions, they are ours to make in order to abide with Daniel’s rules and expectations.

I think that name calling is the only thing that should be moderated for. It is just how i think because i pretty much think moderation, in general, is inappropriate if it stops the conversation because conversation is the most important thing on a discussion forum, only behind it being inappropriate to call people names.
I understand that there is not going to be agreement about Hook on this forum, but the only problems in that thread was the name calling. In my opinion, that is what should be stopped. I just do not understand the decision to always end the most discussed topic about Ouat just because people disagree, instead of specifically tell people to stop name calling.
I understand that moderators are going to do what they are going to do and there is nothing i can do about it. The only thing i can do is say what i think about it. Thanks for hearing.

About every couple of weeks, I find I’ve been logged out. When I try to log in, it doesn’t work. I can still read the forums, but it doesn’t keep track of which threads I’ve read, and I can’t post. When I check back a few hours later, I’m already logged in. It hasn’t been much of a problem for me, though, because I don’t post all that often.
The “Freshness” numbers don’t seem to update reliably; they get stuck for hours at a time. I think this happens whether or not I’m logged in.
I think this forum is hosted on Daniel’s computer and mirrored on his webspace provider’s computer. I’ve seen messages — though not recently — as pages load, about them being old versions.
Maybe Daniel’s internet provider sometimes just stops working for a few hours at a time. Mine does that.

Thank you for letting me know this. If ever this happens and you find you can’t get in, you guys can always DM on Twitter at Punk_Bunny_87 to let me know. Our server is notoriously picky and often we need to feed it (cash) to make it work a little bit better. With the holidays and Noodle Baby due to arrive at any moment, I suspect Daniel hasn’t checked in much. I’ll let him know about these issues and see if we can get them resolved.

SOME OF THE PROBLEMS have to do with a slow down on broadband … I think that will happen more and more in the future as there is an attack on NET NEUTRALITY … again.

Is it just the index pages that don’t work right? Right now, the “Recent posts (with spoilers)” page doesn’t seem to want to let me log in, and I’ve tried refreshing that tab and closing it and opening it again. When I click on a thread link on that page, though, the thread’s page shows me to be logged in. And it looks like I can post in these threads, too.

I’ve been having issues the past few weeks as well. Some days I have been unable to log in at all. A message saying something along the lines of “Error. Please try again later” comes up. And as Gaultheria just said above me, I don’t appear to be logged in on some pages like the Recent Posts (with Spoilers) page even though I actually am.
Ok this is really weird for a few minutes there I was logged in as Kranen? But I hadn’t even logged on so I’m not sure how that happened.
