This is rather scary. I just read Bellarose’s post about being logged in as me and looked on the sidebar and suddenly I’m logged in as Bellarose. I was able to go into her settings and everything (Don’t worry. I didn’t change anything or go digging for things). I logged out and logged back in and was still listed as being her. It wasn’t until I posted this that I went back to being me.

Huzzah! Looks like we’re back up. Everyone let me know if anyone is wonky

    Hey, everyone!

I switched off something that I suspect might have been causing the problems with being logged into the wrong account. Please let Jacquelyn know if it happens to you again. It would also help to include a link to the incorrectly associated post, and then we can re-associate it back to you (and thus avoid the “That was supposed to be me” posts).

About the server, ONCE podcast and all other Noodle Mix Network sites are hosted on a high-end virtual private server (VPS). I manage the server myself (to keep our costs down), but sometimes things break on their own.

Solving math when you login is triggered by what an algorithm deems “suspicious.” For example, multiple incorrect login attempts (like maybe a bot is trying to hack into your account), logging in from multiple browsers (for example, Chrome and Firefox, or browsers on separate devices), or logging in from multiple locations (such as work and home). Thus, it will affect some members but not others.

Whenever you run into a functionality problem, the three most important things we need from you are:

    1. What browser you use
    2. Whether you have an ad-blocker (these can sometimes conflict with functionality)
    3. Exactly what you tried and what resulted

For now, log out and back in. If you still run into problems with the issues raised in this thread, please post here; I’m watching this thread now.

Oh, and about the “read/unread” things, that information can be lost if you switch browsers or your browser erases some saved data to reduce storage space.

Yeah, occasionally, I’ll be logged out on certain boards (not threads, but entire boards) and logged in on others. No matter how much I try to log in, it doesn’t work. It’s random.

Is it just the index pages that don’t work right? Right now, the “Recent posts (with spoilers)” page doesn’t seem to want to let me log in, and I’ve tried refreshing that tab and closing it and opening it again. When I click on a thread link on that page, though, the thread’s page shows me to be logged in. And it looks like I can post in these threads, too.

It’s every thread within whatever board is not recognizing me.
