Wow, not sure what I wrote to set off such a strong reaction or to garner such sarcasm. I was merely making a connection between the title for 2×6 and that line from 1×4. I had only a very vague memory of it and had to re-watch that scene again today to check exactly what Regina said. Not everyone would have remembered that line if they, like me, hadn’t watched that episode recently. I thought it was an interesting and relevant comment to make. I don’t see why I even have to make any sort of defence, but I just did. Good grief.
Guess I just read the comment as HIGHLY condescending – like this reply. I’m not sorry. If it had been phrased to be conversational or in anyway pleasant, I’m sure I would have replied in some amount of excitement about the episode. I’m here for discussion, Slurpeez. Not to be rude, unpleasant, condescending, or sarcastic (at least not at the expense of others). If you can say the same thing, I have absolutely no problems with you but apparently have a hard time deciphering tone in your posts.
I honestly don’t think she said anything offensive or sarcastic. There wasn’t a single thing in her original post that was rude or condescending. Like…nothing. Did you two have a misunderstanding in another thread and it’s spilling over into this one? 🙁

And I agree, I don’t think slurpeez said anything offensive. I completely forgot about Emma spending time in Florida. The earlier episodes are a bit fuzzy for me. I tend to forget about the details.
September 23, 2012 at 12:50 am #154334hjbauParticipantI thought Emma got in trouble with the Law in Maine?
September 23, 2012 at 1:03 am #154340midnight drearyParticipant^Yeah, I think you’re right. It was definitely Maine. Unless, Emma managed to get into troube in another place. But as far as we know, it was Maine.
September 23, 2012 at 1:07 am #154342lilredParticipant@ hjbau – we really don’t know where she got in trouble. It could have been Worcester, Mass., Boston, Phoenix, anywhere in the US. I’m not sold on the idea of Emma having gotten in trouble in Tallahassee, mainly because I interrupted that as later in her life than 17 (maybe just because it was listed later as a location) But: who knows.
My last comment about not being able to decipher Slurpeez’s tone was meant to clear the air, and give Slurpeez the benefit of the doubt that when in the past I’ve felt attacked and even harassed by them it could just be my misinterpretation. I’m sure I now read Slurpeez’s posts expecting the worst. I’m ready to move on if everyone else is.
September 23, 2012 at 2:13 am #154352hjbauParticipantThat’s right. I looked. It was in Massachusetts where Emma got into trouble if any of the information provided is to be believed of course, because Emma has not been completely honest about her past. It is also possible that Emma got into trouble more then once in her life. Though i like to think that Emma turned her life around after having Henry and getting out of jail. Maybe that she could be a slightly more stable person if he should ever look for her. Though she is still extremely lonely and slightly depressed in the pilot so she was still shutting the world out at that point, but she still seemed to have a stable job and a really nice apartment for Boston.

big ol’ fat theory here… more like shooting arrows in the dark really. In LOST absolutely nothing good came from Tallahassee. people met there and got killed there (or almost killed)
The fact that it’s a Lost reference is the only reason it stuck in my head when Regina said it. 😉 I’d figured it was just a little Lost reference that wouldn’t necessarily be addressed again. Guess I was wrong in that assumption.

a scene in a bar where Emma is being… well, being herself. With, somewhere in the background, a tiny and barely noticeable piss drunk Sawyer

😆 I’d die if they have a Lost connection hidden somewhere in this ep, it’d be brilliant! Nothing glaring or significant, just something like you suggested, that only Lost fans would bother to notice and get a kick out of. All this Tallahassee talk inspired me to take a trip down memory lane and google the Lost stuff that was connected to the place. Found this cool quote on wikipedia:
In an ABC podcast, two of the executive producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, said about Tallahassee: “It just happens to be a nexus point where many of our characters have crossed paths.” “Like a hellmouth?” Cuse asked. “Yeah, like a hellmouth,” Lindelof replied. (Jeff Burlew, Tallahassee Democrat, March 23, 2007).
I doubt Kitsis and Horowitz would have chosen to use Tallahassee of all places if there wasn’t something significantly bad that happens there in Emma’s history.
September 23, 2012 at 12:42 pm #154389surayyaParticipantHmmmm, I’m going to have to re-watch that ep!
Maybe she stayed there for 2yrs after she got out of jail- she’d have been on probation or something when she 1st got out, wouldn’t have she?
I thought you got a person who helps you get a job & helps you fit back into society etc when you come out of jail????Maybe that’s when she also was able to afford her bug & became a bailbonds person (I assume you’d have a test or something to pass in order to be one ❓ ❓ ❓ ).
The Charming family dynamics & Emma’s past are 2 things I’m most interested in seeing this 1st 1/2 of the coming season- so I’m stoked! 😀
