In a word, kinda. “We’ll hint at it, but we probably aren’t going to show that [back]story for a while,” says cocreator Eddy Kitsis. For one, it’s not like Neal has reason to raise it as a conversation topic. But more importantly, Kitsis explains, “One of the things about Season 3 is we’ve really tried to focus on the core characters, including the six people on that boat and Neal. We do eventually want to get to that [Philip/wraith] story, but we’re coming out of the gate with the people on that boat.”

Is there any way that Once Upon a Time‘s Ariel and Regina already met? Assuming that the “certain mermaid” Regina referred to in Episode 1×12, “Skin Deep,” was Ariel? –Mirza
I suspect you are onto something, though cocreator Adam Horowitz will only say that “we might” flash back to that aforementioned encounter during JoAnna Garcia’s turn as the Little Mermaid.

Least year, OUAT ran a one-hour special to recap the season before the new season starts. Do you know if they will be doing that again? –Bernadette
Yes, they shall. Once Upon a Time: Journey to Neverland will air Sunday, Sept. 29 at 7/6c, leading into the Season 3 opener.

Each Ariel spoiler leaves me more and more confused.

I am also conflicted but once they announced that Eric would be his own character I knew they’d make one of cast Ursula. Lana would kill it but I had hoped that it would be the other way around: new Ursula and a cast member as Eric (yes, I’m my shipper goggles but I’m honest about it)

Perhaps MAP’s actresses filming schedules didn’t allow for long filming. Also in Season 2, people felt that MAP were taking screentime away from their favourite characters. With what’s going down in Neverland, Belle in Storybrooke and Neal in FTL, I would rather find out what’s happening with my favourite characters than spend time on how MAP got Philip’s soul back when we already know they achieved it.

Perhaps Ursula still does exist in the OnceVerse as her own character, it’s just in this instance Regina got to Ariel before Ursula could. So Regina is taking on the Ursula role without actually being Ursula.

I never wanted an episode dedicated to MAP’s adventures but I expected at least one act of exposition. If you get it over with then it’s done but now there is a possibility that it will come back?

Well, it sounds for me like they want to save up that story for later when it’s maybe more important. We still doesn’t know what that dark place is where the wraith took Phillip’s soul. My theory is that it is Hades and if I’m right than it would definitively too early to show or tell about it now because they really need to stay focused on Neverland.

Perhaps the wraith will make a reappearance and such on of the core character’s soul and the rest will need MAP’s help to retrieve it because they did it the first time.

I think we’ll get just a hint in 3×1 about Philip’s soul being reunited with his body because it’ll potentially tie back into the plot later. For example, right now Neal is mostly dead, and he doesn’t know anything about MAP. As time goes on, I think that Philip’s story could be important for Neal as he attempts to get back to his family. Cora told Aurora that when a soul is consumed by a wraith, it travels to another realm. What if that realm is Neverland? Maybe this fact will tie into Neal’s quest to go to NL to save Henry (assuming the nightmares alert Aurora to Henry being in NL).

I’m really looking forward to some Regina/Ariel interaction! I think Lana would be an excellent Ursula!

Good idea, Slurpeez. I re-read that spoiler and it does say they won’t get to it for awhile, but we know that the focus of at least the first 6 episodes is NL heavy. In my head we’ll have one Bae/MAP centric episode between 8-10 where he rejoins Belle in SB and then they go after the JR6 together, so that episode could be heavy exposition into Philip’s tale.
