I thought it’d be good to make a thread of all the literary characters, or characters from the show, who have crossed into other worlds. It will be fun to talk about the different devices used to travel between worlds and where the characters ended up.
I’d love to dicuss some theories about where some of these magical items are now, who has them, and how they could be used in OUAT.
Here are some of the well-known ones:
1. Alice – fell down the rabbit hole
2. Peter Pan – fairy dust/flying
3. Dorothy – Slippers
4. Jefferson – his Hat
5. Tron – they used computers/technology. (sounds a bit like GOAT)
6. Wizard of Oz – Hot air Balloon
7. Pirates of the Caribean characters – Went to Davy Jones Locker (relevent since Hook’s last name is Jones)
8. Lion, witch, Wardrobe children – Wardrobe
9. Bed knobs and broomsticks – flying bed bewitched with magic
10. And of course… Magic Beans. What others can we think of?

You could argue that the magical world of Harry Potter is different from the human world of London and is accessible via Kings Cross or Diagon Alley.
There is also Narnia which is accessible via the wardrobe (or Aslan simply pulls you over cause he’s awesome like that). In Voyager of the Dawn Treader (4th book in the series, I believe) they visit LOTS of new worlds."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 10, 2013 at 10:22 pm #192918HappyEndingsSpectatorAladdin – Magic Carpet and Lamp
Mary Poppins – Unbrella (The stand was used on Hook) 😆
What about Robin Hood and his magic bow and arrow ❓

Mary Poppins and Bert also jumped through sidewalk paintings. I love that part!! 😀

I’ll grant Mary Poppins because she came from…somewhere. And yes, they jumped through the painting (one of the best moments ever).
But Aladdin never traveled to other worlds with his lamp and carpet. He stayed in Agrabah.
Same with Robin, he stayed in Sherwood Forest or Nottingham except when on Crusade, but that’s not leaving for a different world."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 13, 2013 at 5:55 pm #193905shinysephirothParticipant“His Dark Materials” have some.
The show “Supernatural” has ways of going to Heaven, Hell and Purgatory.
The DeLorean in “Back to the Future” can travel to different realities if the past is changed.
The Looking Glass also leads to Wonderland.
Does the Genie’s lamp count?
The Mirror World in which Glass was trapped.
Being put under a sleep curse sends you to Nightmare World (or the floors below or above it) or being once under that curse and going back into a deep sleep.
“Kingdom Hearts” shows a Gummie Ship can travel between worlds and doorways lead to a world’s heart. These doorways can also lead to other worlds; sometimes people can be transported to Traverse Town.
Care Bears and their Cousins travel from their world to ours.
“The Nightmare Before Christmas” also shows doorways leading to various worlds.
Tornadoes can apparently send people to Oz.
After dying one is sent to an afterlife (with LOST showing the sideways world).
Mighty Max’s hat.
In “A Christmas Carol” the Ghost of Christmas Future shows an alternate future to Scrooge if he doesn’t change.
The boat from River Styx to Hades (alternate reality or just a different domain?).
Jumanji/Zathura board.
Joe/Steve in “Blue’s Clues” can “skidoo” into Felt World.
The bridge to Asgaard in “Thor/The Avengers”.
A path to Distortion World in “Pokemon”.
However Rumple was able to get to Don Juan’s world. @_@
Eyes are the doorway to the soul. 😉
Jet Li’s movie “The One” shows technology allowing people to move between dimensions.May 14, 2013 at 9:29 pm #194377wizard55ParticipantDigimon, Inuyasha, The Lost World…theres so many stories with normal people traveling worlds. Tvtropes.org is your friend. Search on there “magical lands” or “parallel universe”. we could honestly make this list of books and movies and shows dealing with this topic…go on forever.
