I’ve been typing this theory in various places over the past few days but I thought it might be nice to get it all down in one place. I present to you, for your pleasure and consideration, the theory about magic, Blue, and Oz.
First part of the theory: Magic is Dying
There have been hints about magic dying in the Enchanted Forest for some time.
Exhibit A The Return
(The Blue Fairy tosses him a transparent looking bean.)
Baelfire: What is it?
Blue Fairy: A magic bean. The very last one that is known to our kind. The others got away from us. You just use it wisely, and follow wherever it leads you. It will save you both.
Exhibit B The Stranger
(They arrive at the tree.)
Geppetto: It’s beautiful.
Blue Fairy: This is the last enchanted tree in the entire realm.
Magical objects appear to be dying. Beans come and go, enchanted trees dwindle down to nothing. Yet not everyone seems to know this. For example, consider this from In the Name of the Brother
(Rumple) Your land has witchcraft, but it’s feeble, neglected stuff. Where I live, it’s strong and hearty. But… It cannot restore life. If you can do this, well… I’ll want to know more, and I’m willing to pay.
Notice how Rumple thinks the magic in his land is strong and hearty but it cannot do everything. This is contrasted to Frankie’s world in which has been neglected. Dare I say people have stopped believing?
And then there is this from Lost Girl
Peter Pan: Magic is dying, people stopped believing
(paraphrased)
And he goes on to say that this is in all realms not just in Neverland. But who knows that magic is dying: so far only two people, the Blue Fairy and Peter Pan. Why do they need magic to survive? For Peter I think it’s fairly simple: magic will sustain Neverland thus allowing him to stay a boy forever, which is totally in line with classic Peter Pan. But what about Blue? What if the magic of a realm and the Blue Fairy are linked? If the magic begins to die, so does she. We’ve all made comments about how her magic seems wonky: sometimes she can do great things, and sometimes she can’t seem to do anything at all. What if that all depends on how strong the magic is?
So Blue and Peter Pan team up. They both want magic to be restored for their own reasons and thus come up with a plan in which Rumple will become the Dark One, lose his child, cast a curse to find him that only the Savior of True Love can break. What do they get out of this? The heart of the truest believer: Henry. Once PP has Henry’s heart, magic will be restored to all the realms, thus ensuring both Peter and Blue’s long life.
With me so far? Good cause here come some spoilers.
Second part of the theory: Blue dies(but not really)
This image was captured while they were shooting 310 and can be found on our forms here
We as a collective whole have more or less decided that those clothes on the steps of the convent are Blue’s, as if she as vanished into thin air. We also know that a new a curse is coming to SB or rather that magic starts acting strangely. What if, after they save Henry in 309, magic begins to vanish again? Without the heart of the truest believer the magic that Rumple brought to SB is slowly dying like magic is everywhere else. Blue is near death and all deals with PP are off. She’s all about herself. Sensing that Tink might be able to shed some light on Blue’s SNEAKYness, Blue decides to POOF herself out of SB and into another realm. The rest of the residents of SB think she has died and because she is the kind and gentle Blue Fairy/Mother Superior (LIES YOU FOOLS) they hold a service for her. We know that there is going to be a funeral, VCF has given us that. Details of that you can find here
This all happens in 310. 311 is another story, and more details of the theory who dies in 311 can also be found in the previous link. But what happens to Blue? OZ.
Part three of the theory: OZ
There have been so many hints about Oz over the last few seasons. Everyone keeps saying, “we’re going there next” and I don’t see why not! But why Oz for Blue? I think magic might still be very much alive in Oz and thus a safe haven for Blue. I also think that Blue and the Wicked Witch of the West are either Sisters or allies. Somehow in the second half of the season, our cast will figure out that Blue is alive and that she’s responsible for everything and that Blue’s end game is to restore magic to all realms and crown herself Empress of All Things (or something like that. Look, Sneaky Fairy is Sneaky. She ain’t in this for charity)
And then down the yellow brick road we shall go.

I sort of don’t want to go to Oz. I just want Rumbelle together for a few days without anyone being shot, kidnapped, memory erased, tied up, interrupted. 😛

So le’ts make it more elaborate….the BW world was B&W b/c it had no magic…..well, that could tie into Oz too b/c of how the movie starts off B&W then is in color. Perhaps the wizzard references and the Science vs Magic with Dr. Whale will finally amount to something besides random cameo ?
Also there was one more “Last” — the “last Pegasus” that furnished the sail (that Hook destroyed).
Of course, the beans weren’t the “last” it turns out, but the BF totally had a sneaky line about how the rest of the beans “got away from us”. What curious wording. I wonder if the Fairies ran slave labor on bean farming and the Giants said enough, we’re freelancing, but the dwarves were still under the Fairy thumbs for mining dust?
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
