Kathryn’s reappearance–is that the bit of magic Gold promised Emma?
[adrotate group="5"]April 2, 2012 at 2:28 am #140573SnickerdoodleParticipantI was just getting to ask how Kathryn could be alive on a post. Glad I looked here first:) Wondering if Rumpel has a potion on his shelf for life that he brought with him to SB 🙂
April 2, 2012 at 3:29 am #140585cruel_fortunaParticipantI’m of the persuasion that that’s exactly what Gold was referencing.
Now the question is, where has he been hiding her this whole week? It’s implied when she’s found that she’s disoriented, did Gold have some of that potion leftover that helps a person forget & if so, did he give said potion to Kathryn?
April 2, 2012 at 5:11 am #140598Jeremy LaughlinParticipantI don’t think Kathryn was dead at all, but I think having her turn up was Gold’s “magic.” Not sure whether that “magic” is literal or figurative, though.

I agree.
By the looks of it Kathryn has been in the forrest all this time. The question is where exactly. Maybe she’s been in the cottage or just wandering around aimlessly. What one can be sure of is that she had something to drink or else she really wouldn’t be alive …April 2, 2012 at 9:45 am #140608SlurpeezParticipant@ JeremyLaughlin: I agree. The “magic” that Mr. Gold was referring to was most likely figurative.

Possibly hidden, bewitched, captive or a combination of all three. Question is — is that really her heart (magic) or was the DNA test tampered with (ordinary frame-up)?
April 2, 2012 at 12:32 pm #140624killianhookfanParticipantIt seems like Gold has been in charge of this entire thing so I am leaning toward saying that the DNA test was just bogus all around.
I think it’s interesting though that Gold technically hasn’t done ANYTHING wrong here. Emma told Gold that she wanted to work with him and that she was willing to allow him to use his methods as long as it got the desired outcome – and that she was willing to go farther than Regina would. Regina made a deal which was based entirely around the assumption that Kathryn was dead. So Gold worked with the parameters given to him and somehow managed to get what he needed (whatever that is) while getting Emma what she needed (MM off of the murded charges and Emma is now starting to figure out something is NOT right in SB) plus he managed to show Regina that he is more powerful that she is and she did NOT get what she wanted). As a bonus Emma now believes in August and she has figured out not to trust Sidney, and Kathryn isn’t dead!
April 2, 2012 at 4:18 pm #140653PheeParticipantEven before they mentioned DNA testing I was all, “If they send that thing for DNA testing and it comes back saying it’s Kathryn’s, no way am I believing it.” Regina has control over all that paperwork in that town and can make it say anything she pleases.
Definitely think it was figurative “magic” he was talking about. He had her stashed somewhere and planted her so she’d be found exactly when he wanted her to be.

I thought about this as well and I’ll be very disappointed if they go this route. I just feel like that’s too easy of an explanation for these writers. MY question is why haven’t they shown us the heart? There are clearly two different hearts we’ve seen: the glowing red hearts that can easily be ripped out in FTL and an actual human heart. Graham was still alive in SB even though Regina had his “glowing heart” so perhaps Kathryn’s “glowing heart” was in that box? But wouldn’t Emma look at it and be like “What the hell kind of heart is this?!” I really think there is more to be revealed here.
