Since Rumpelstiltskin brought magic to SB, I wonder if he is going to become the Dark One again in appearance and in ability. It makes me wonder if he needs magic for some specific purpose like finding Baelfire or if there is something else he hopes to accomplish. Also, since he has been reunited with Belle, I wonder if she’ll react negatively to this new game-changer. She is a very moral person who is opposed to the dark magic and believes that love is greater than power. Will she be able to convince Rumpel to give up his power? At the same time, we’ve heard that true love is the greatest magic of all, which is the bottled potion Rumpel used to bring magic to SB in the fist place. I wonder if this is a good form of magic since it was created from love.
It seems likes Emma may inherit magic. Will we see her take on Mr. Gold in a final battle or will she and Mr. Gold form an alliance against Regina? Also, it was speculated that Rumpel will call upon Emma for a favor possibly to kill him and Emma will become the dark one. However, I have some doubts about this theory since Rumpel probably won’t want to die now that he and Belle are reunited. He’ll want to have a future with her. Perhaps all they have to do is kiss for him to become a regular man again.
We know that Jefferson is a man of magic who is also a time-traveler. He has a magic hat that allows him to go to different realms. I hope he uses his magic for good to help Emma and her family. I also hope he and Grace are reunited now that their memories are restored to everyone.
I wonder if Regina will get her power back as well and how the final battle will play out. It’ll be interesting to see if she is as powerful as she was before or whether there will be limits to her power. We saw her smirk when she saw the cloud enveloping SB. At the same time, the source of magic is from true love, and we don’t know how this mixes with dark magic.
Finally, I suspect the fairies may not get their magic back since Mr. Gold has a vendetta against the Blue Fairy for taking away Baelfire. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has generated an alternative source of magic that is derived from true love rather than from fairy dust. In episode 14, we saw that fairy dust made from crushed diamonds is what powers magic in FTL. In episode 16, however, we heard Mr. Gold say that if you can bottle true love, the greatest magic of all, you can do anything. Probably, he wants to have power over the Blue Fairy.

I would have thought getting the egg back repayed the favour. Gold’s a trickster, but there was only one time he lied, really.

We heard Regina say that magic in this world is unpredictable. And it seems to me that magic in all forms is a double-edged sword, if you will – it seems to cut one way, but there is always repercussions — magic comes with a price. However, magic created from the purity of true love might not have a repercussion, we will see.

I was wondering if they will be able to leave SB? If not, Gold’s favor might be to have Emma leave and find Bae.

Good point!

Interesting thoughts. So the magic in FTL is mostly based on the fairy dust. Using the bottled love Rumple’s made it so that the magic in SB will be based on true love. That would make it even more powerful.
Oh gods, I just realise why I would love that! It would prove my thought (way back when that bottled love episode came) that Rumple wanted the bottled love to get an even greater power!! Haha, that’d be cool, but back to business.
It does seem a bit weird him bringing back magic. If the waters of the well could bring back things lost, that would mean there had been magic in SB before, right? And I don’t mean the little bits that Regina had, but real, strong, powerful magic. Wouldn’t that suggest that our world did have magic and that maybe FTL is the past and not just another world? This is so complicated …May 14, 2012 at 8:08 pm #146775GaultheriaParticipant@slurpeez108 wrote:

I’m not so sure that it’s love that Belle feels for Rumpel. It seems more like Stockholm syndrome to me. Even if she’s too good a person to hate Rumpel for imprisoning her in his dungeon, even if she’s able to forgive him, she seems to be missing a healthy amount of caution.
On the other hand, if it is true love that Belle and Rumpel feel for each other, that could end badly if Rumpel casts a spell that needs a special ingredient of a kind we’ve seen used before.

Jefferson really, really should have been Storybrooke’s taxi driver.

I seriously doubt that. Rumpel had a chance to sacrifice Belle, and he didn’t. In fact, in “Skin Deep,” Rumpel sent her away TWICE. So, he had zero intention of sacrificing her. That’s why he needed Regina to do it. He wasn’t willing to sacrifice any of he loved ones, but Regina was.
May 14, 2012 at 9:08 pm #146782eternalflameParticipantI seriously doubt Rumpel would have killed Belle for the curse. Like other have already stated, he had the oppurnity to kill her and he didn’t. He sent her away twice. The first time was out of genuine kindness and the second time was out of anger. But the point is that he didn’t use her for the curse. So, I definitely don’t see him using her for another curse now. Now Regina…that’s anyone’s guess. 😯
Besides, Rumpel’s main objective was to find his loved one. Why would he sacrifice another loved one? He’d be sacrificing one love for another. That’s why he chose not to enact the curse himself. He had to find someone desperate enough to do it for him. Someone even more desperate than he was. And that was Regina.

This is a totally off-the-wall theory, but I wonder if Rumpelstiltksin is trying to bring back Baelfire from the afterlife. In episode 16, we heard him say that whoever can bottle true love can do anything. Even though in FTL there are certain rules for magic, which we’ve heard both the genie and Rumpel repeat, this could be a total game-changer in that regard too. The magic created from true love is the most powerful of all. What if Rumpelstiltskin could bring back people to life, make people fall in love, and wish for more wishes? 😮

I think this is possible, I think Baelfire is already dead because he went to a land without magic centuries before the dark curse was enacted. At the very least, he’s going to be an adult.
All magic comes with a price!
