The Futon Critic is reporting that on September 30th, just before the season 2 premiere, ABC is airing a special called “Magic Is Coming”. No more info is available – I’m guessing it could be a recap of season 1… maybe with some cast interviews, hopefully?

They did a midseason one of these type of things after Revenge had a long break last season. I don’t recall any of these specials ever giving us interviews though (unfortunately.)

EMMA SWAN’S JOURNEY INTO STORYBROOKE AND HER DESTINY TO BECOME THE SAVIOR OF THE CURSED FAIRYTALE CHARACTERS IS REVISTED, IN ANTICIPATION OF THE EXCITING SECOND-SEASON PREMIERE, ON “ONCE UPON A TIME: MAGIC IS COMING,” SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 ON ABCGiancarlo Esposito, Who Plays Sidney/Magic Mirror, Narrates the Special
ABC invites new and devoted “Once Upon a Time” viewers to take another look at last season’s number one new drama and one of the most critically acclaimed shows. “Once Upon a Time: Magic is Coming,” narrated by Giancarlo Esposito (Sydney/Magic Mirror), will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date — but which current viewers will also find illuminating – in anticipation of the exciting second-season premiere. The special will take a look at Emma Swan’s journey into Storybrooke and her destiny to break the Evil Queen’s curse, which sent the fairytale characters into our world with no memory of who they once were. Backstories and secrets of Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumplestiltskin, Red Riding Hood and others will also be revealed. In addition, the special will give a glimpse into what’s upcoming for Season Two — magic! “Once Upon a Time: Magic is Coming” airs SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 (7:00-8:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
And they lived happily ever after… or so everyone was led to believe. To ensure that no one in fairytale land – especially Snow White – had anymore “happily ever afters,” Evil Queen Regina cast a curse which trapped the fairytale characters, frozen in time, and brought them into our modern world. Although still alive, they had no knowledge of their former selves and were sleepwalking through life – ageless — for 28 years, until their savior arrived in the form of Emma Swan. Unbeknownst to Emma, she was the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming, who had whisked her out of fairytale land and into our world as an infant to save her from the curse. Abandoned as a baby, Emma’s life was anything but magical. Her last job was as a bail bondsperson, but she mostly went from job to job without much of a life plan. When her 10-year-old son, Henry, whom she gave up for adoption years ago, appeared on her doorstep with a book of fairytales and told her a crazy story about how she’s the prodigy of fairytale characters who are all trapped in a town called Storybrooke, she thought he was nuts. But curiosity got the better of Emma, and she brought Henry back to the town and soon found out that Storybrooke was indeed more than it seemed. Regina, ever the control freak, had placed herself as Mayor of the town and was Henry’s adoptive mother. But over time, Emma began to see through the cracks of the curse. And the only way she could truly break the curse was to accept her destiny as liberator of Storybrooke’s characters and to fight for their freedom.
“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Meghan Ory as Red Riding Hood/Ruby, and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.

September 30, 2012 at 7:24 pm #154736fairycutie86ParticipantLooking forward to this little special tonight. I won’t be able to watch the first episode tonight because my dad and sister much rather watch Amazing Race, so this special will tie me over until I can watch the new season tomorrow.
