ParticipantI need to ask: are there 2 magic lamps? I don’t know if this has been discussed before, if so please tell me where. To me it seems like the lamp shown in Rumple’s castle (Skin Deep) is black & the handle looks different (simpler) than the golden Genie’s lamp handle. So are there 2 lamps? Here’s a picture of the Genie’s lamp & the lamp at Rumple’s castle. Please ignore the algae(?) on the lamp in the first picture. Btw, if anyone reading this is wondering, there is no lamp shown in the Lacey’s FTL scenes. Thanks in advance 🙂

ParticipantHm, it does look different to me. But that’s okay–there were two magic lamps in Disney’s Aladdin, so it’s legal.

ParticipantOk, it’s just that I the times that I’ve read something mentioning the lamp, it has been assumed that they were the same one.Glad to know someone agrees with me 🙂

KeymasterAwhile back someone postulated that perhaps the Genie we know from the story isn’t the Genie from Aladdin but rather Jafar, after Aladdin and Jasmine had defeated him.
https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=3475&p=48597&hilit=Jafar#p48597So maybe Rumple has both lamps and there is another genie (the good one) out there somewhere.

ParticipantI think someone put up a picture of the Genie we met against Cartoon jafar and there is a LOT of similarity to the looks. I’m going to think that is exactly what the writers meant to imply. I don’t see Blue Genie reacting to Regina at all the way this one did, willing to kill for love, let alone the guy who’d set him free.

Oh I totally agree about the physical similarities & you are so right about how he was so Ok with the whole assassination thing. Also the only time that I can remember the Genie/Mirror being a little concern about something evil that Regina was going to or did, was when he told her that she should have let Grace keep the rabbit plush.
