I think it will be Cora. I’ve been speculating that she wouldn’t make it to the season finale, and that the rest of the season will deal with Greg and the outside world. I think Regina will kill Cora, hopefully by crushing her heart (once she finds it…)
If Cora was gone they would definitely have to refocus and have a bigger threat…Hook just doesn’t fit the bill…really not a lot of damage a pirate can do in comparison to someone who wields magic like Cora. A threat from the outside world could be more dangerous. The only problem I have with Cora being the one the die is that it feels like a dropped plot…it they don’t explain it…what did she want with the magic beans Anton was supposed to grow. When they brought that up I thought it would probably fit into the season 2 finale somehow.
I agree. There would have to be some serious wrapping up before the actual death. Like the magic beans, the location of her heart (if it it on Hook’s ship then where was it before), if she’s been to other worlds other than WL (she told Hook she’s been to too many lands to give up [after Emma got the magic compass]) and to me that wasn’t a throw away line. I just can’t seem them killing a MAJOR character (like a staring role, not a guest role), at least not for good. If it is Regina or Rumple then it won’t last long because the writers aren’t stupid. They know the EQ and Rumple are two of the big reasons people watch this show (don’t get me wrong, I love Snow and Emma and Charming, ect but this show does villains so well) and that the stories left to tell about them could go on forever. So, I still say Cora.

You may very well be right. I am reminded that once we got Graham’s backstory he died and since this is Cora’s it may very well be her death. And we are getting August’s backstory and we know that he becomes young again…sounds like they are wrapping up some things. I would suspect that as certain storylines finish we may see more characters die especially if they died in their own fairytales like the huntsman.

In the Disney Beauty and the Beast, Belle doesn’t break the curse until the Beast is dying. So perhaps a near death experience is on the way for Rumple regardless of the character that actually dies.

Yeah this theory has been thrown around a lot. I’m a big believer in it, but not for this episode only because Rumbelle can’t get back together in one episode. I think it’s going to stretch out a bit longer.

It’s possible…Rumple is supposed to have the scene Barbara Barnett talked about where he and Belle were not in the same room but it brought BB to tears…could it be that they are both in the hospital…I mean Belle is still there…watch it be something along these lines and they leave it a cliffhanger till the next episode with us not knowing what happens to Rumple.
February 22, 2013 at 10:22 pm #174930NobodyParticipantI will throw my random guess out there…..The only “major character” that I think could be cleanly killed off is Granny. She has already groomed Ruby to take over the business and her role, she doesn’t have any unfinished business that effects the major plot lines, it would upset people, and everyone already hangs out at her diner so what better place for everyone to come remember/mourn her death? I think killing off Cora would require way too many loose ends to be cleaned up too quickly and who would replace her as the next big bad? Rumple is too important to the show. Hook isn’t done yet but could be in the next couple episodes…he just keeps getting weaker in my eyes…they would really have to shake his character up to make him important enough to keep in the long run. Everyone else has a lot of unfinished business that was a big deal in the first season and needs to be finished.
February 22, 2013 at 10:29 pm #174934mich7Participantlol major death will now haunt me until the episode airs…I remember The Cricket Game…back and forth about who would die and then no one died…I wonder if it might be the same case with this.

That is an interesting thought and makes so much sense. Plus it would give Ruby something to do, can deal with the theme of bereavement perhaps through natural causes (how much more heartbreaking would it be to have a character naturally die of old age rather than be murdered through magic or other means) and would also slim down the cast to make room for new characters next season.
They look like they’ll be finishing off the Pinocchio arc which’ll take Gepetto and Pinocchio out of the equation. Archie’s role has been reduced since the first season so with Pinocchio and Gepetto out and Henry not needing him any more, Archie may no longer be required.
If Granny dies, it’ll free up another cast space.
That’s potentially four characters that won’t be returning next season. All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixFebruary 22, 2013 at 11:03 pm #174942RumplesGirlKeymasterThe Granny theory is very interesting, but I wonder who kills her. Cora and Granny haven’t had any interaction as far we know. So is it Regina? Granny was on Team Charming in the war to take back the kingdom.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"February 22, 2013 at 11:13 pm #174944PriceofMagicParticipantWe know Granny had a heart attack pre-pilot which stopped Ruby from leaving Storybrooke and sleeping her way down the eastern seaboard. Perhaps the stress of everything that’s going on in Storybrooke at the moment causes Granny to have another heart attack and she dies.
