Emma’s secret weapon is Merida; Emma intends to use Merida to make Rumple brave so that he can pull the sword from the stone. Can Merida succeed? Can Rumple be the hero and be brave? Can you teach someone bravery? And how did Merida get from jail to Emma’s dark clutches?

I’m excited about Merida teaching Rumple heroing though.
I’m clinging a bit to the idea that crossed my mind recently: That to be a true hero, Rumple needs to learn to truly love again. He lost that after coming back from death.

October 18, 2015 at 10:36 pm #310245RumplesGirlKeymasterCan you teach someone to be brave? Do you throw them in the lion’s den and force them to sleep next to the giant beast and that instills bravery in you? I don’t think that’s how it works. I think you’re either brave or your not. It’s not really a learned trait but gosh darn it, Merida is going to be the one to do it! Because her movie is called BRAVE you guys. So clearly she’s the best one to teach Rumple how to be a hero.

Why are you giving them ideas, Matt??

You can teach someone to overcome there fears. Does that count. I haven’t finished the episode because little sisters are little sisters. Again. So ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but I don’t think in the context as I understand it, that you can teach bravery like that.
Also….you have to be brave to pull the sword? That’s it?? That’s how it works? >_> wow

Legally they aren’t allowed to, so we actually might WANT to post specific story ideas we don’t want to come true! Fun fact, Jane has tweeted before that if anyone tweets her any unsolicited story ideas, that she has to block or mute them for that very reason. That’s why TV writers don’t read fan fiction. I know you’re clearly joking of course. lol!
October 18, 2015 at 11:18 pm #310267SlurpeezParticipantI already count Rumple as brave. He sacrificed his life in 3×11 to save his family. What truer testament of bravery is there than self-sacrifice? Learning to shoot arrows and clash swords isn’t going to teach him what he already knows: heroes sacrifice themselves to protect others.

And doesn’t giving lip back to the Dark One and resisting her already make him brave?
My hope is that the next episode will give a satisfactory explanation as to why Merida would be a better option (other than the play on her movie title).
