A lot of people has mentioned hating Pan especially given what he said to Rumple in 3×04. I found this really good discussion on tumbler that explores Pan’s mental state and how he could go from Malcolm (who was extremely selfish but did seem to care about rumple) to being someone like Pan (who was extremely cruel to Rumple and yet named himself after the boy’s doll).

My newest hedacanon about Rumple’s mother is that she and Malcolm had a one night fling and somehow he got baby Rumple. Rumple is now his biggest burden and his biggest mistake.
Theory: Rumple’s mother had Rumple and left him at his father’s doorstep to take care of him.
I hope this doesn’t happen and that Rumple’s mother was loving towards him when he was a baby, but died shortly after giving birth to him.
My crack theory for Rumple’s mother is the Blue Fairy. (I want to see more Keegan and Robert scenes again). I hope she isn’t his mother, but I have been thinking it.
Another crack theory for Rumple’s mother is the Wicked Witch of the West from Oz. I thought this because of the way they describes Rumple’s father as ”coward” and I thought that his father could be the Cowardly Lion from Oz.
I really hope we see a back story of Rumple’s mother and if she knew the spinsters.

I completely see this happening.

While I want more than anything for Rumple to have had one loving parent, it’s just…not how A and E write Rumple, is it? It seems like Rumple was very lonely and unloved (we don’t know how the Spinsters raised him but sneaky Spinsters are sneaky) until he met Milah which add salt into that wound.

I think I am one of the few people who really don’t like this theory. lol. But I admit that it’s intriguing.

Oooooh.

Because, I’m very intrigued by her now after seeing who his father is. I kinda hope his mother was magical and that is why he was always near magic. (Ex. Magic bean, dagger, and the seer.)
My theories for Rumple’s mother:
1) Wicked Witch of the West from Oz (For some reason I like this theory)
2) Blue Fairy
3) Dorothy
4) Other character

Maybe Tinker Bell? There are so many things we don’t know about her. Her first chance, why Pan trusts her… And she hasn’t yet helped in any significant way (it didn’t seem that difficult to enter the camp). I just wish she has some relevant part to play in the future.
November 20, 2013 at 2:56 pm #225334darkones1fanParticipantAfter doing some more thinking on the subject I have come to realize just how selfless and fatherly Rumple was with his magic (At least in the early years) Then his father was.
Think about it hard. Malcolm/Pan (I think I’ll just say Pan) gave up his own son to be youthful and gain his power. Meaning everytime he used magic he was doing it for himself whether it was something really big like a long drawn out plan or something simple like eating some cake.
Rumple on the other hand from the moment he got his Dark One powers did everything he could to make Bae happy. Heck the reason he got those powers was to protect Bae in the first place. Also as time went on even though Rumple became for monstrous with his powers towards others he never did towards Bae. Rumple always wanted to use his magic to make Bae happy heck he even wanted to build him a castle and give him a golden crown. (Rumples dad never did that for him). Even though Bae never wanted those things…But its the thought that counts!
So ergo Rumple despite becoming a bit crazy later, was always was more noble with his powers towards his own son then Pan ever was towards Rumple. Because Rumple in the end really just wanted to use his magic to make Bae happy. (Even though the results didn’t work out)

I like the Dorothy idea. Maybe she and Malcolm were circus travelers or something, thinking to Oz the Great and Powerful. I am thinking she was a little crazy after her visit to Oz (or at least people thought she was, pulling from Return to Oz.). She ran away to join the circus or maybe eve the gypsies (could pull a little Hunchback in with Esmerelda) and she meets Malcolm there. She has little Rumple, but is called back to Oz (to save it from the Nome King as she does in The Marvelous Land of Oz and Ozma of Oz) from which she doesn’t return. The whole second half of the Oz story involves mirrors pretty heavily as well, since Ozma is trapped in one by Mombi and Dorothy is able to communicate back to Oz through one. Easy way to portal to Oz in OUAT. Also an easy way to segue into Oz as a land in OUAT by telling the rest of Rumple’s back story. So with Dorothy gone, Malcolm uproots with baby/little Rumple, assuming Dorothy has died and continues his life of crime, leading to nobody trusting him… leading to the Spinsters giving Rumple the bean which takes them to Neverland, etc, etc. I still think Sneaky Fairy IS the Wicked Witch of the West and faked her death in Oz to escape to the EF when the events of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz take place. And an out for Nova… perhaps SHE is Glinda since she was pink and inherently good, so I could see her being the Good Witch of the North. All the witches are actually fairies. Some good, some bad, some sneaky.
So when we think Sneaky Fairy might fake her death in Storybrooke, perhaps she is really jumping back to Oz to track down Dorothy to get her son under control (Rumple) when he goes all crazy and stabs DaddyPan. What if Adam and Eddy put that in a future script and shows Rumple’s mother leaving him and his father behind.
I’m still hoping this doesn’t happen because I’m still hoping that his mother loved him very much til she died.

As much as I love the whole Nealfire thing, it was a little dissipointing that by the time we got conformation there was more then one person in the fandom that just assumed it was right. This one really came from left field.
Second, I think it’s a bit early for us to start speculating on who Rumple’s mother is simply because we have almost nothing to work with. I would like, however, to see her be some sort of dark witch or something. One of the things that makes Henry so special is him having so much of both light and dark magic within him as both the product of at least one (probably two, but let’s not start shipping wars) generations of true love and the Dark One (might as well add Pan in the mix as well).
But the thing is that until I am told other wise I assume the laws of genetic inheritance still apply. Because Pan wasn’t Pan when Rumple was conseved then Rumple shouldn’t have that particular kind of magic (which he doesn’t). Because Rumple wasn’t the Dark One when Bae was conseved, Bae shouldn’t have access to that particular kind of magic (which he doesn’t). So then why does it matter if Henry is descended from them if he doesn’t have access to any ‘dark’ magic because of blood inhearentence? Now if Rumple’s mother was some sort of witch that would fix that, especially if it was a kind of magic that didn’t show up in every generation.

According to Jane Espenson, the “dark” magic comes from Henry’s environment. It “rubs” off in a sense. So a bit of that rub off on Neal who then co produced Henry (that sounds like Henry is a Broadway musical…) and then some of it came from Regina.
However I do also like the idea of Rumple’s mother maybe being a dark witch.
