Just a very weak thought I’ve been having:
What if Mal was once actually Tinkerbell? Think about it. Maleficent isn’t actually human for one thing, she’s actually a [dark] fairy, and we kno that she had some run in with Auroras mother to which she lost (mentioned by Regina in 1×2 as the sleeping beauty who got the best of Maleficent). Well what if the mother was Wendy.
Tink was very jealous and TRIED TO KILL WENDY for getting close to Peter. My thinking is Tink lost Peter to Wendy, went off to another land, the enchanted forest, changed her name and at some point tried to get back at Wendy but failed. She later tried again and succeeded with her daughter, Aurora, though I do believe aurora said Mal attacked her and her mother. Bit still.

Doesn’t it atleast sound interesting. To be honest it was the fact that Mal has blonde hair that got me thinking. Any thoughts?

That is very interesting. Question: if Wendy was Aurora’s mother and we think lived in NL for at least some portion of her life, then how did Aurora end up in FTL?

Thinking out loud: Hook did seem to know Maleficent without Regina telling him who she was. He almost seemed to recognize her. *which is odd given that she was a zombie dragon lady*

Yes that is odd that he knew her. More backstory!

Peter could have taken Wendy to the enchanted forest to hide her from Maleficent where she then gave birth and Maleficent could have just followed them. And also Peter took Wendy’s daughter away in Return to Neverland so there’s that possibility.
…….I just wanna see more Maleficent 😡

Wasn’t the zombie wearing a (rather beat up) version of Malificent’s iconic two pointed hat? I thought it was pretty clear from the outfit who we were dealing with, and Malificent was a very powerful and prominent figure in FTL. Being a traveler who frequented pubs etc- it would have been easy for Hook to have heard plenty of tales about her.

I too would like to see more Malificent, if only because she seems like a multilayered character. She’s a bad guy, a dark sorceress, but she also gave up on her revenge (more or less) regarding Aurora and Phillip and also struck some kind of bargain to obtain Rumple’s curse just to keep it from being used. I’m sure she paid a high cost for that! (Of course, now I’m wondering what kind of world might have resulted if Malificent had been the one to cast the curse or if someone else had gotten their hands on it….) What event in her life turned her from evil to neutral?

My theory has long been that when Charming placed the vial of true love inside Mal, it turned her into a more neutral person. Hence the pony.

Hm maybe that is why Rumpel wanted Charming to hide it in her as opposed to somewhere else.

Agreed. I thought it was obvious but then again we haven’t seen much of her to know what she was like before the True Love got into her. I actually wish to see how much of a monster she really was. There has to be a reason she is Regina’s only friend.

Hmm. That theory makes plenty of sense honestly (aside from exactly how she managed to contain that giant egg within her human form… if she could manipulate it within her so she doesn’t explode, why couldn’t she remove it… unless she didn’t want to….). It definitely fits with the logic of the show. I guess I just wish she had had some kind of event where she made the choice to change, rather than being well not brainwashed but… heartwashed? Is that a thing? Can we make that a thing? I’m sure Snow would appreciate it.
