I think that once Charming stuffed the egg in the dragon she could not turn back into the witch woman Maleficent. When Regina activated the curse that is why she remained a dragon. She was then hidden in the bottom of the library / cave for the entire 28 years….
Any other ideas? theories

YOU may be right. But wouldn’t she mention someone stuffed an egg in her or maybe she does not remember. Although a fight with CHARMING would be hard to forget. Also WHY did she not TURN into the dragon when she fought with Regina… she could have really toasted/ fried her.

Charming specifically asked for the beast that guarded the castle. Why didn’t she turn into a dragon when fighting Regina? My guess is because she just didn’t get a chance. With Regina it was magic against magic and in a wizards/witches fight turning into animals is usually left as a last resort. I have a feeling that is why Regina bound her the way she did so that she was unable to turn into a dragon.

In Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, Prince Phillip kills her with a throw of his sword, reminicent of Emma’s same doing. But we see her afterward advising Regina to give up on the vengence. Maybe she has some kind of curse, similar to Rumple’s, that she can only be truly killed in a certain manner. Maybe slicing the head off or something. I think on the first episode back, we may see her emerge through the doors of the library, hale and hearty.

Like you said in the Sleeping Beauty story she is killed by the prince, but we know in ONCE that she was speaking to Regina after the Sleeping Beauty story had happened in timeline, so if she came back from that death she could come back from this one. Though the how of the Sleeping Beauty story could have been different in ONCE then what we know from the disney version.
May 27, 2012 at 10:12 pm #147875icebladeParticipantActually, I think they have already covered Sleeping Beauty: Henry and Emma; the similarities between the two stories are pretty significant event wise only Emma is the “prince” and Henry is “sleeping beauty” and there is mother-son love rather than romantic 😆 . Time was stopped for all of the denizens except for Emma who aged in a place of negativity, she has to kill Maleficent with a sword strike to the heart, saves Henry from a sleeping curse created/provided by Maleficent by true-love’s kiss.
Yeah, even if there is a sleeping beauty in FTL, I don’t think they will bring that story up because Emma/Henry’s story share so many similarities.
