Hi Guys!
Al I can say is Wow! I absolutely loved this episode there was so much in it that I didn’t expect to be revealed so early this series. I love that Bae is Henry’s father! So pleased that they went this way it gives Rumple so much more to contemplate and Bae a bigger connection to Storybrook. I love Rumple’s story and I knew Robert would do a brilliant bone chilling scream when he was injured, what I didn’t expect was that Rumple injured himself! Rumple is such a beautiful character made all the more beautiful by Robert Carlyle creative genius. I was however so frustrated with Rumple’s insensitivity to Bae shock of finding out he is a father! He could have given Bae some space and waited until later to have his discussion but if he had done that he wouldn’t be Rumple. I was really pleased that Bae gave it to Rumple not to dissimilar to the way Belle did AND we know all Belle would have totally kicked his butt if she’d been there and heard that conversation. I’m with the theory that Rumple won’t kill Henry. I believe that Rumpleโs “undoing” will be to save Henry and choose him over his power exactly what he didn’t do for Bae and Belle’s true loves kiss will save him. I recon Rumple end up powerless in then end of season 2 which makes for the obvious question…. What would Rumple do to get back his magical powers!?
Anyway that’s my idea. Love this show and can’t believe I have to wait 2 weeks for the next ep. ๐[adrotate group="5"]February 18, 2013 at 9:34 am #174001GrimmsisterParticipant@Gaultheria wrote:

With Milah, I swear she is more of a plot-device. She is just around to make Rumpelstiltskin more sympathetic.
You don’t think she’s Cora’s mom? “Daughter of a Milah”? Hey?

Itโs such a typical father reaction and Emma and Baeโs faces are priceless. They really do look like a couple of teenagers who have been caught doing something naughty on Rumple pristine leather couch! ๐

I have the feeling that all the last week spoilers are confusing us… We have read that Rumpelstiltskin made a vow that changes everything, blablabla…Maybe i’m wrong, since English isnot my native tongue and maybe i understood it wrong, but that last escene with the seer he says “then i just have to kill him”, that is to not a sort of vow, just a “why are you making a big deal of that? I know how to take care of myself, i’m the dark one!”
BUT, he swears to his newborn son not to leave him. (And this is the par i’m not sure i’ve understood well)
With all this I mean that maybe what changes things is that Mr.gold looking for his son is not only the act of a man who regrets leaving his son, but the fulfilment of a previus vow -something, in a magic-fantastic world, stronger even than feelings- and the last escene is just a “may be IF Henry turns out to be a threat in any sense, he could be in a danger” to which we are putting to much attention because of the sopilers. As I said, maybe i understood it wrong, but, i don’t know, it is quite tricky.
The Seer suggested to Rumple that the boy would be his undoing, which he would have interpreted as, “the kid will destroy you, finish you off completely.” Things aren’t going too well with the reunion, and the Seer’s prediction was that the boy was gonna make things worse. At this moment in time, Rumple considers Henry to be an obstacle to reuniting with Bae. He decided long ago, that any obstacle to his goal would be taken out. So does he ignore the Seer’s warning, let Henry go about his merry way, and risk losing everything he’s worked 250 years to achieve?
Or does he take the time to consider an alternate meaning to the Seer’s prophecy, and realise that perhaps it’ll be Henry’s influence that will ultimately bring out the good in him, which will lead to the undoing of the Dark One, which will lead to Bae being open to reuniting with him? I think that right now, Rumple’s feeling too desperate to see that option.

Rumple is understandably a bit overwhelmed, as are Emma and Henry. Unsurprisingly, the ever resilient Henry is dealing with this the best of all of them! (Aside from a bit of pre teen grump).
I loved this episode!!! Amazeballs.
Loved the comic relief flash back to Snowing, vocalising the “WTF” of the audience in the warped family tree of Storybrooke. Good ol’ Snow, hoping that this will make everyone more mellow (pffft! As if) and David, being a typical alpha male. “But *I’m* his grandfather!” “You can have two of them….”
LOVED the penny dropping moment of Emma/Rumple/Nealfire/Henry confrontation.
Didn’t love how quickly Milah turned against her husband. Mind you, we don’t know how long it took Rumple to hobble home. Let’s assume it took a while. She’s probably already heard the gossip, started to be treated with scorn by her village neighbours, had time to muse and dwell and get bitter…. a bit more dialogue to explain that might’ve been helpful.
But my hands down favourite moment was Emma’s rant in the bar – “You ran off on me because Pinocchio told you to?!!!!”

Least favorite? Robably Cora and Regina plotting to steal the dagger. I really hoped Regina would redeem herself, but I guess it’s too soon for that. Also – a map in the library? That seems RIDICULOUSLY EASY. And why would Gold draw a map to something he wanted to keep hidden in the first place?l
Well, it had to be easy–he’s scared that he’ll lose his memories somehow, and he needed a way to find it again and protect himself. He probably figured that memory or not he’d find Belle somehow–he watched it happen with the Charmings, after all. So it made sense even if it did feel like Regina & co figured it all out awfully fast.

I absolutely loved this episode! Robert, Jennifer and Michael were all magnificent in it. As a supporter of the Neal=Bae theory, I was skipping around my house for an hour after the episode aired. I just couldn’t help it! ๐ My favorite moments were nearly every scene involving Rumpel/Gold, Nealfire or Emma. They really carried this episode and made it something special. I loved that Nealfire told Rumpel exactly what was on his mind. Rumpel needed to hear it. Poor Rumps was under the delusion that he could just solve all his problems by turning Bae back into a little boy again, but too much has happened. Neal is a completely different person now. My heart broke for both of them.
Ok, Cora and Regina’s plan to take the dagger is just…ugh…come on Regina! You’re my girl! My favorite female character! What are you doing! Henry is too smart for that. He’ll find out the truth sooner or later. I’m hoping that this is just one big trick on Regina’s part. I’d love for it to be revealed that she was secretly playing her mother and at the last minute, turns the tables on her.
Now this whole deal with the prophecy is a a total misdirect. It’s meant to sound like Rumpel may end up killing Henry, or possibly the other way around, but prophecies are never what they seem. They say one thing, but mean something entirely different. For all we know, Rumpel’s undoing could simply mean that Henry will help Rumpel give up his powers. Why knows?
Oh, and Greg…go away. Just…go away…
February 18, 2013 at 12:58 pm #174025evilqueenParticipantI’m not too happy with the episode. I purposely avoided any boards after watching it last night so I could wrap it all up in my head, yet I still have very mixed feelings.
Yes, I liked the writers finally explaining us the past of the Dark One and closing one of the chapters we were so curious about. I also liked the reveal of who Bae was – Neal or not, it was going on for so long, I just wanted it to happen and be done with. I was beginning to think the writers will just go the ‘LOST’ way and just keep adding questions without answering any but in this episode, finally many things were dealt with.
However, I’m not at all impressed with Neal being Bae and I hope there will be more to it.The things I didn’t like were the events back in Storybrooke. Regina used to be my favourite character. ‘used to’ because seeing what’s happening to her right now is just making me sick and her actions are just so irrational. Not to mention Henry’s statement “You’re just like her, Regina” – I’m sorry, writers, but this is just an 11-year old boy. He absolutely hates Regina and seriously, this hatred is just too much for me to take in the light of him being so OK with Bae leaving them in the first place. He easily forgives him while he’s so hurt by Emma’s lie?
And Greg, please, get out of this town, you are a bore.
February 18, 2013 at 2:44 pm #174054PriceofMagicParticipantI thought this was a good episode. Poor Rumple injuring his leg but ultimately he had no choice. If he fought he would have died, thus leaving Bae fatherless like the seer predicted but doing what he did led to Bae being fatherless later on.
The seer’s predictions are not always what they appear to be but they also have a habit of course correcting. Rumple tried to avoid leaving Bae fatherless but it happened anyway and in a more traumatic way. Her prediction about Henry being Rumple’s undoing could mean many things.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixFebruary 18, 2013 at 3:09 pm #174068spinninggoldParticipantFavorite moment: Henry telling Gold: It’ll be ok, I forgave my mom, so will your son. It was so darn cute!
Least favorite: Rumpel breaking his foot. I couldn’t watch… I literally closed my eyes and yelled “DON’T do it!” Which makes it an amazing piece of acting.
