I don’t recall if she ever apologized, she just made excuses.
Actually she did the opposite of making excuses. She owned up to it. He asked why she lied, she explained why.. said he was a thief, a liar, and a bad guy, that he broke her heart. And then she said how she didn’t tell him because she wanted to forget that time of her life and she thought more of herself than him. And then she literally said the words, “I’m sorry.”

“Clock’s ticking,” “Two minutes,” “One Minute”, “Time’s up,” were like nails being hammered into Rumple’s coffin. I love how MRJ delivered those lines so quickly and softly, like it was killing him inside as well.

Yep, the moment she realised just how wrong she’d been and how much her lie had hurt him, she tearfully said, “I’m sorry,” which is something I don’t think he’s ever got from Regina. He may not have said, “Apology accepted,” but I believe that Emma acknowledging in that moment that his feelings are valid will help him to forgive her.

Favorite scenes:
-NEAL IS BAELFIRE!!!
-Mr. Gold buying Henry a hotdog
-Neal telling off Mr. Gold
-Neal and Emma’s talk in the bar at the beginning of the episode
-Emma calling Snow for help
-Rumpel holding newborn Baelfire
-The return of the Evil Queen! (even though I hate Cora with a burning passion)I didn’t really have any least favorite moments. This episode was pretty good overall.
February 19, 2013 at 8:11 pm #174343MyrilParticipantFavorite scenes? In short: Every scene in present Manhatten.
Jennifer Morrison rocked. Of course Robert Carlyle did a great job as well (he always does) as did Michael Raymond-James. Strong emotional moments. The longer version:
Some nice tackle by Emma. But ouch. And time to appreciate the work of the stunt people on the show.
Loved Emma’s reaction at the end of that scene, catching Neal, expressing her frustration but for the audience a funny release at the end of an intense moment. Well, all of the scene was great.
Emma getting hysterical (well as hysterical as she can get) and calling her mother, Snow, for advice. Did I mention that Jennifer Morrison rocked?
Cora and Regina at the library. Yes, I know, Hook was there too, but sorry, I liked that scene for this little moment between Cora and Regina, another mother – daughter moment. Cora’s proud smile while her daughter was explaining why they were looking for the dagger or information about it at the library. Just this smile and Regina’s thank you revealed so much about their relationship.
David isn’t great with words – and seems not with logic either. Yes, one can have more than one granddad, surprise. And Snow is as always good in stating the obvious in a very dry matter of fact way (How many takes does it take to deliver such line in such context without any laughter?) 😆 A much needed comical relieve in this episode high on emotions. And a huge tip-off for all fan-fiction writers. And good for other fan-art as well. Maybe should turn it into a fun competition over summer break, well in time for next thanksgiving.
Rumple all upset about everything the seer told coming true so far. His frustration to find the cage empty, the seer gone, so no way to get more (cryptic) answers. And then deciding to break his own leg and doing it. Robert Carlyle is brilliant. And though I guessed, that Rumple injured himself to avoid fighting, didn’t guess it happening this way, that he first was eager to go to war. But it made total sense, and added another intriguing layer to Rumple’s story and personality.
Ah, the dreamcatcher again. The love for details. And continuity.
Gold’s and Emma’s confrontation and Neal storming in to the rescue. For a second I hold my breath (and that doesn’t happen often watching movie or TV).
Neal, Gold, Emma, Henry – what a drama. And foundation for more drama. Have to admit, I was a little worried, what the writers are going to make of this story line, but maybe shouldn’t have been. Such a story line can easily turn into soap opera twaddle, but here we got terrific drama. Thanks to good writing and brilliant acting.
Regina is as obsessed with Henry as Cora is obsessed with her. There was a moment of doubt for Regina when she wondered if it was all about taking the powers of the Dark One for her mother. But whenever Cora pushes the button labeled Henry, Regina seems to throw any doubts over board. Beware, Cora, this might be your undoing one day. Lana Parilla and Barbara Hershley had not many scenes in this episode, but they made them worth it.
Emma and Henry. At least she was honest now. And her regrets were honest and felt deeply. Henry’s reaction, his disappointment was very true to the reaction of an 11 year old boy. Nicely done scene by Jennifer Morrison and Jared Gilmore.
Rumple as learned nothing, has he, 300 years older and learned nothing. Offering his son to make up by turning him back into a 14 year old boy and take away the memories? Bad idea. It’s always the easy way out Rumple thinks of first. Compared to Rumple Neal was already as wise man at the age of 14. And some great dialogue here.
Have to mention it again: I love the score Isham is writing for the show. It added so much to the atmosphere of scenes in this episode again. That piece when Emma is chasing Neal – wish for that piece on hopefully another soundtrack CD. And for the piece when Rumple seeks out the seer, takes away her powers and she gives him her last prophecy.
And the seer, makeup and the little CGI they did was fantastic. Creepy. 😯
least favorite moments:
Wouldn’t have missed the scene of Greg. I know, they’re building the story line up slowly, but this episode would have done fine without it.
The change of Milah. Sorry, that was a bit too much of a change even for my taste. She sounded like she opposed the idea of Rumple going to war at first even – and I think that part was unnecessary. Didn’t had to make her all enthusiastic about it, but neither as opposed to it as it sounded in the scene. Okay, point was to show, she supported Rumple going to war out of love to him not because she herself was any crazy about war (never thought she was), but doubt they really got that across. From what I read so far most only perceived it as something being out of character and making no sense. It did make though sense to me, how she reacted to Rumple when he returned, that was very much in character.
Couldn’t help but notice, unimportant as it was though: How well equipped even infantry, foot soldiers, were, despite quite sure being recruited from peasants, who hardly were able to provide themselves that much – and in medieval armies soldiers wore what they could afford. Not to mention to turn simple foot soldiers all of a sudden into horsemen, uhm, well, guess magically everybody in Fairy Tale Lands knows how to ride a horse. But it’s fairy tale after all, right. :ugeek:
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
February 19, 2013 at 8:20 pm #174344elleParticipantI also gotta add that I really didn’t like how Rumpelstiltskin brought magic into the conversation when he was trying show Baelfire that he had changed–it seemed like he had forgotten the fact that his son wanted to come to A Land Without Magic for the reason the name of the land states. No magic.
I knew he didn’t change–he never really had–but I had hoped that he would have at least learned by now that his son hates magic.
And especially with offering to age him back to 14–the guy just realizes that he has a son.
Also, I get that Henry was mad at Regina–he had a right to that–but comparing Emma to Regina is a bit much. Yes, Emma lied and she was wrong. But she admitted it–she owned up to her lie and explained why she did it. And she apologized–I doubt Regina has ever done that.

Mihla is all about herself and her wants…. she does not want Rumple to go to war cause then she would have to work to keep the homestead going ( ie pioneer women when husband went off to hunt / to war ) Then he is labeled a coward; so she is unhappy about his return… Why because of how it impact her… wife of a coward… etc. IF Rumple had been killed she could have been the grieving widow until the next sucker comes along.
IT IS ALL ABOUT MILHA AND WHAT MIHLA WANTS.

.February 21, 2013 at 8:49 pm #174710hellraiser-89ParticipantI think this was one of my least favorite episodes ever. I was hoping that Neal wasn’t gonna be Bae and that the writers would have just tricked us.
So I’m kind of disappointed that the show has become so predictable. And I do think the writing has become worse. Regina is out of character and if she hasn’t been playing along with Cora’s tricks then I think the writers are just using her as they see fit. I don’t think she would just forgive Cora that easy and tag along with her evil plans even after knowing Cora has lied to her.
Same with Henry. What happened with “I knew she was innocent!”?
And the whole Greg thing. Emma’s powers work when the plot needs them to, and he just happens to wander in to Belle’s room when Regina is in there. And a whole town of people who aren’t even worried he might have lied to Emma and they just let him wander around?
Whoever Her is, she might believe him since he sent the video of Regina using magic, but today with our technology to do CGI images, who else will? There’s always some who are stupid and will believe whatever you present to them but not the entire world.
If this keeps up I’ll just go back to focusing on Regina’s evil queen scenes, since Ruby isn’t wearing the hot pants anymore.Rumple kills Henry, Cora kills Rumple, the Charmings kill Cora and Regina kills the Charmings. Sounds like a happy ending to me.

LOVED THIS EPISODE!!! 😀
Favorite moments:
-The big confrontation between Rumpel, Emma, Neal and Henry. The acting in this scene was fantastic and the drama was just so palpable.
-Neal’s 3 minute speech to Rumpel. He just broke my heart in that scene.
-Neal and Emma’s talk in the bar.
-Snow and Charming’s family tree. 😆
-Mr. Gold and Henry bonding over a hotdog.
-Rumpel holding little Bae and crying.Least Favorite Moments:
-Nothing really. I wasn’t too fond of Greg’s snooping around in the hospital, and I thought Regina using magic to look through Belle’s purse was a bit silly. But overall, I thought it was a very strong episode.Neal’s 3 minute speech to Rumpel was one of my favorite moment too 😀 I remind me when Neal gave 2 minute speech to August in Tallahassee episode. Neal is AWESOME!
February 28, 2013 at 5:56 pm #175932laurieanneParticipantI am wondering if I missed something, but why does Regina no longer have custody of Henry? Are the laws different now that the curse has been broken?
February 28, 2013 at 7:02 pm #175942KebParticipantThe law post-curse in Storybrooke seems to consist of the Charmings and Emma, who actually is the sheriff. Because of the new curse and because of their shared history, going outside Storybrooke for legal affairs isn’t really going to happen. And aside from all the stuff that the Charmings know about Regina’s murderous past (including multiple attempts on Snow’s life–who, remember, was also Regina’s child via marriage), Emma saw personally that Regina intended to poison her and succeeded in poisoning Henry as a result. Even by Land Without Magic laws, that poisoned turnover would be enough to take Henry away from Regina and into protective custody.
