Once Upon a Time‘s journey into the dark recesses of Neverland has gotten pretty scary already, what with an evil Peter Pan running around. Now it’s about to get a whole lot creepier: ABC has confirmed exclusively to Rolling Stone that rocker Marilyn Manson will be joining the cast of the show in November. Manson will voice Shadow, a character whose voice will give life to the very essence of Neverland.

“We’ve always been enormous fans of Marilyn Manson,” show creators and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz told Rolling Stone. “We wanted to cast someone with the vocal ability to make our skin crawl.”
This season on Once Upon a Time follows Emma, Rumpelstiltskin, Regina, Captain Hook and the rest of the Fairytale Avengers in Neverland as they look for Henry while battling the evil Peter Pan. The Shadow has appeared a few times already this season, and he’s not quite the mischievous, fun-loving character who appeared in the classic Peter Pan tales. This version of Shadow is more interested in kidnapping and soul-stealing – and with Manson’s voice added to the mix, he should become a skin-crawling part of Neverland.
Manson’s most recent album, Born Villain, was released last year.

As to Marilyn Manson….not the biggest fan…but interesting choice and I’ll wait to see how it plays out.
What I’m mostly reacting to is uh…SHADOWS CAN TALK?
Should be interesting to see what happens with it. Somebody said not too long ago that they saw PP’s shadow whereas they were careful to not give Rumple one since we saw him cut his off so that begs the question of WHO is the shadow? (Or rather, who does it belong to?) and what is his deal?
Should be extra creepy now! Can’t wait to figure it all out though.

MK, they never confirmed anything. That guy is a friend of Bobby’s. People are saying he was just visiting the set because he’s filming another project in Vancouver. They’ve never confirmed anything about who is cast as Rumple’s papa.
Marilyn Manson has acted before so it’s not that out of the realm of possibility that he could be playing Rumple’s father in flashbacks. What’s better than to get an artist with a twisted reputation to play the sparkly, rock-star inspired imp’s father. 😉

Okay, I’ve quickly developing a scenario:
Rumple’s father somehow has his shadow ripped from his body. The shadow, now an entity of it’s own (curse?) is searching out a way to be reconnected with it’s body so it uses Peter Pan to get this done. He needs Henry’s belief and magic because he’s not only flesh and blood (blood magic) but he’s also “the truest believer”. The perfect combination of light and dark.
Or the Duke is the shadow. Or the Duke is the shadow and Rumple’s papa. So many possibilities. Still working out the details. 😉

TOTALLY AMAZING
I’m not a huge fan of his work but his voice is PERFECT for this role. And this happens to be one of my very favorite things in the world

Not sure about it being Rumple’ father. That seems….stretchy.
