On Once Upon a Time, magic always comes with a price, so did the magic that Robin Hood used to heal Marian come with a price? –Mirza
Damn straight it did. ‘“There’s a price — and a debt,” Adam Horowitz teases of Sean Maguire’s upcoming, Fairytale Land-based arc as the Prince of Thieves.
Back in “Lacey,” I think that Robin Hood used the wand of Cinderella’s fairy godmother (FGM) to heal Marian of whatever affliction she was suffering with to save their unborn child. The sreenshots from “Lacy” and “Price of Gold” seem to confirm this (thanks to Phee for the images). Also, in “Prince of Gold” Rumplestiltskin said that the FGM’s wand was “pure evil” and that magic always comes with a price. And a bad fairy’s wand would probably come with a high price such that the mother’s life is spared just long enough to give birth to the unborn child, but that the mother dies soon after and the child lives.
Also, the wand that belonged to Ella’s FGM, but which Rumple stole in 1×4, is the same wand that Mr. Gold used in “Queen of Hearts” to steal the magic from the diamond mine and to cast a dark barrier spell over the well. The spell would’ve killed Snow White and Emma in transit from the EF to SB if Regina hadn’t saved them. This wand, when wielded by a dark sorcerer (or perhaps even a bad fairy) seems capable of very dark magic indeed. When Regina asked whose wand that was, Mr. Gold replied that the wand belong to a fairy that no one would mourn. Yet, if Robin Hood knew Ella’s FGM, he would know exactly whose wand it was, since he used it to save his wife and child. Also, if Tamara is the child of Robin Hood and Marian, she may mourn, too.
Finally, the wand appears to be the same wand that featured in Mr. Gold’s nightmare in “Lacey.” In the dream sequence, Henry chooses a wand from Mr. Gold’s pawnshop, which Rumple then uses to turn Henry into a procelin doll which Rumple then smashes. This wand must indeed be pure evil if it features in the Dark One’s darkest nightmares.

Perhaps they might leave how Tamara got out as a mystery, (or the baby and Marian if you aren’t on the Tamara is daughter train), only to reveal later it was Merlin and then leave why and what he wants a mystery.

August 23, 2013 at 3:47 pm #206460RumplesGirlKeymasterI think the photos prove that it is Ella’s FGM wand. The question I have is : why would she deal with Rumple? That is how he got the wand in the first place, right? Goes a little something like this.
1) FGM and Rumple make a deal. Rumple gets her wand and she gets….?
2) FGM asks RH to get the wand back. In return she will let him use it to heal Marian of her affliction.
3) RH steals back the wand, curse Marian
4) RH returns the wand to FGM. As extra thanks, the FGM sends Marian through to our world, 3 years before the Curse, with her unborn child. Robin stays behind, thinking he can meet up with them later. Until then, he has to protect Sherwood Forest.
5) Marian arrives in our world and gives birth. The woman who helps her give birth is not related to her but as Marian lays dying after a hard childbirth, the Price of Magic, agrees to raise the baby Tamara as her own granddaughter.
6) Rumple loses Belle and pretty goes crazy.
7) Rumple decides he needs the wand back but doesn’t want to deal this time, so fills FGM outright.

Assuming that Cinderella’s fairy godmother and Rumple ever made a deal, she’d have to get something pretty juicy in return for her magic wand. Could it have been power of influence in the form of a patronage over King George’s family? In 1×6 “The Shepherd” Rumple wanted King George to divulge the whereabouts of Ella’s FGM so he could kill her and steal back her wand in 1×4 “The Price of Gold.”
King George: Then let’s do another deal. Bring him back. I need my son to do this. I’ll give you anything.
Rumpelstiltskin: Anything
King George: What do you want?
Rumpelstiltskin: There’s a magic wand I desire. It belongs to a certain fairy godmother, who’s patron to your family. And I want to know her whereabouts.
Each royal household seems to have its on “patron fairy.” For example, in 2×15 “The Queen is Dead” Snow’s nanny, Johanna, said that Queen Eva had sought help before from a confidant, who is the BF.
Johanna: If medicine can’t cure the Queen… Perhaps magic can.
Snow White: Magic?
Johanna: Yes. Your mother has a confidant – someone few know about. Someone schooled with the most powerful of magic. I’m not really supposed to even know of this.
Johanna: There is a benevolent fairy who can grant a person’s wish, if their heart is true.
Snow White: Mine is. I swear. Where do I find this fairy?
Johanna: Tonight, go into the woods where the sky is clearest. Wish upon the blue star… And she will appear to you.Of course, young Snow never even got the chance to wish upon the real Blue Star, since Cora, disguised as the BF, sought Snow out first. Nevertheless, the real Blue Fairy was a confidant of Queen Eva, and so the BF may very well have been a patron fairy godmother to King Leopold’s household. This would explain why the Blue Fairy repeatedly helped Snow White when she tried to free Prince Charming in 1×21 and to help get Emma to safety with the enchanted tree in 1×1. She is patron fairy godmother to the Charmings.

August 23, 2013 at 6:32 pm #206485RumplesGirlKeymasterI wonder if Rumple had dirt on the FGM to get her wand. Something dark and sinister enough to maybe have her be banned from being a fairy. One of our running theories about Tink is that she was banned to NL for not being a good fairy. If the FGM was caught by Rumple doing something unfairy like, he could hold it over her. Hence why he considers her an evil creature.

Oh, I like it. Blackmail is something I could see the Dark One having in his arsenal.
