TV Line has a fresh scoop:
I’m in serious need of some Emma/Neal scoop on Once Upon a Time! Do you have anything? –Meredith
This Sunday’s episode very well may be everything you’ve ever wanted (and more), when the exes finally have a heart-to-heart. As Michael Raymond James previews, “Neal still feels some guilt” for bailing on his love 10 years ago, “but he felt he didn’t have a choice in the matter. I mean, we’re talking about her saving a townful of people that he grew up with, people from Fairytale Land. So in Neal’s mind, he jumped on a grenade in the name of the greater good.”Are we ever gonna see Greg/Owen’s dad again on Once Upon a Time? I can’t say I’d be shocked if being locked up somewhere in Storybrooke post-curse hasn’t aged him a day. –Estee
Kurt Flynn resurfaces this Sunday. And… that’s all I got.I added the boldface on the word resurface for emphasis. Does that sound like what I think it does? Resurfaces above water, as in he might be living under the sea as a merman? 💡

If Neal steps in and turns off the Fail-Safe, or maybe does something so that it only activates around HIM, that’s how he ends up in FTL all alone!

That I don’t know. But resurface from a the ground, maybe. As in basement.

The actor who played him is not listed for this episode, ruling out flashbacks or present day appearances, and Regina isn’t the most trustworthy person ever, so what’ll give? Are we in for a CGI version of him similar to how we had Maleficent? 😕

Is it possible they kept his out of the cast list for this episode to keep the mystery?

I got the impression that he didn’t want to disrupt or help the curse nothing more than that.
As for resurfacing maybe he is a fish, Cora turned the dock guy into a fish so maybe he is one too ❓

Neal’s got family in this now though. Not just his Papa but his son. I think he’ll do what he has to to try and save his son.

that seems like such a cop out! I hope he’s in the basement.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 2, 2013 at 10:13 pm #190744HappyEndingsSpectatorIn regards to Neal, they were talking about his past why he didn’t help Emma I believe. I think he gets sent to FL by Tamara or maybe by Gold to get him out of the way so they can access Henry but I could be wrong. I don’t think Neal is saving the town per say.
As for the fish theory, Regina could have said since you like fishing so much you can be a fish 😆 😆
Wasn’t Owen and his Dad making fishing lures ❓May 2, 2013 at 10:16 pm #190745RumplesGirlKeymasterIn regards to Neal, they were talking about his past why he didn’t help Emma I believe. I don’t know if Neal would care about saving the town but saving Henry and Emma? Absolutely. And thus in order to save Emma and Henry, he has to do something with the fail safe and I think that is what sends him to FTL.

I thought the actor’s quote is in the context of what happened 10 years ago as far as why he left Emma, not what is coming up in the finale specifically. Many people have implied that Neal left Emma because he was afraid of jail or Rumpel finding him (like what HappyEndings says about the impression Neal didn’t want to help). The actor’s words (and also the clip of A&E in that preview) kind of support the “he sacrificed himself” so Emma could break the curse idea, that he actively wanted the curse broken but to do that, he believed what August had told him, that he couldn’t be in Emma’s life.
Of course, if he is willing to sacrifice 10 years ago, he might also do something in the finale that cuts himself off from the ones he loves again, in order to save them and everyone else. Henry and Emma would give him extra motivation, sure, but he’s also thinking of the greater good.
“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass

I think it would be a very beautiful parallel, especially as it would come after Emma and Neal have a Swanfire talk.
